no contest iphone ,andriod is still in is infancy but is 1 too watch, symbian too 90s

i have the n97 at moment and im not at all impressed, the phone is very laggy and you have to press stuff twice many times. but i thinks android will become the iphone 'killer', the interface is good but i think they try to muuch to pack it with features, making it sluggish.

i want to sell my n97, anybody have any android/iphone alternatives? i was thinkging ab out the palm pre or the sony xperia in jan 10

Android. It might still be in its infancy but at least they treat you like adults and let you do what you want with your phone, unlike the ubiquitous...

a jb iphone you can do what you want

You can - but Apple consider this illegal and make it pretty hard for hackers and then end-users to do so...

they make it hard for a couple of weeks and then hey presto its hacked, with the likes of chronic dev ,geohot and the dev team all ex apple employees it never takes long :-D

I don't disagree - but its the principle really, and the reality that one upgrade might make it much harder to hack. Apple like to dictate that you use their software (iTunes and all the crap thats bundled with it), they dictate (with dubious legality) what apps can and cannot be used, they provide methods to remotely pull an app of phones at their will - and they are flippant to customer requests/criticism about features which are lacking on the device.

Its a very slick, polished product, but the refreshing openness of Android should be a real catalyst for some excellent competitors...

I don't think the 3Gs has been hacked yet for the 3.1 firmware (i might be wrong though). I can see why the want to restrict it with the availability of paid for apps for free, but there are many features that are not pirated that make the iPhone better when jailbroke.

I would recommend the iPhone greatly though.

The Hero's Android OS is far better than the iPhone's. It allows for some decent multitasking, different homescreens and a lot more customisation.

The iPhone really needs a refresh too. The OS is a bit bland now with the rows of icons.

Not had a play with the Pre much, but it looks promising.

my 3gs isnt sluggish at all ,have you tryed a cooked rom on the n97 that might speed it up a bit ,the htc hero might be your best bet but it still inst as good as the iphone imo

if you dont mind me asking. What is a cooked rom? btw is there anyway to download apps other than the ovi store

android is fresh and still innovative. Apple like to stick with what they know (regardless of if it works or not). Symbian sucks. WM is good but not always the most stable.

Ive used all of them, although only the iPhone for a short time as im not a huge fan of phones with on screen only keyboards.
