Which Train? (HELP!)
Hi all
We're heading off to Worksop (Retford) in July (Sat 21) on Eastcoast Trains having booked tickets - however all seats are indivdual seats and not seated together
Does anyone know how to see/check what type of train we are travelling on (from looking on google EC Trains run a HST or Mallard Carraige Version - both with different layouts!), so I wanted to see where my seats were allocated as my Nan (83yrs old) is travelling and does not want to sit on her own
I had thought about just ringing EC Trains, but not even sure they would know?
thanks in advance
Dave

Just cant see how anyone here could possibly know.
Thomson placed my 2 girls alone on the flight back last friday, fair enough i know our situation is different as ours involved children, who are 7 and 8,
We asked 2 old men if they would move up instead of both in the aisle seats, which meant my 3 kids could sit together and i could sit with them, the old men said no. Luckily a couple of couples behind had heard it all and moved for us. You may be lucky and get someone willing to move if they are travelling alone and don't mind where they sit.
I reckon they were paedophiles.

Lol we had already said that if its a man and lady that I will sit next to the man with my son, only for it to be 2 blokes. Next time we will just place the kids next to them who would of annoyed the f**k out of them. The kids slept all the way back, and had heads and legs all over the seats lol.
Also, the numbering on the seats can be rather archaic, if you booked all the seats at the same time, they'll likely be together.
You don't say where you're travelling from, if it's the origin then simply ask a member of staff where the "unreserved" coach is and get in there first!
If all else fails, you tend to find that around 30% of seats which appear reserved will in fact stay empty for the journey, orr will only be occupied after you are due to get off. Look for empty seats with reservations where the occupier will board after you alight. Simples. :-)
We booked the tickets with Redspottedhanky and the Telegraph Site (£10 Voucher) - although we did state a table was required, they have put us:
Outward: Coach E, Seat 3A and 5A and then 25A (same coach)
Return: Coach E, 23A, 47A and 49A
IIRC, its 3 seats on slip tables (2 and a single 1) - we would get away with that but my Nan who is 83 needs to be sat with Mum you see! Dad can sit on his own if worst comes to worst!

You're the first person to think of that, well done!

eek! yeah, they're all over the place, unbelievable! You'll maybe find they had allocated a lot of seats already and you got what was left over.
Anyway, you're right, it'll probably start at Newcastle, so you'll be in with a shout at least. Although there are couple that start from Edinburgh/Glasgow/Aberdeen so you need to watch for that.
Anyway, just another question .... times on tickets are different to those in the timetable booklet I was given today, although included in that timetable was a leaflet stating rail works on both days I travel - I take it my tickets include the delay in regards to the actual works taking place, as these times are almost an hour difference to that off the booklet?
I guess I can contact CC/RSH to ask about this, but thought I'd ask here first once more
