Which Vaccum Cleaner - VAX VZL-702 OR Dyson DC18 Allergy?? Help Needed!!

Can someone please advice me that which of these vaccum cleaners I should go for.

The VAX VZL-702 has some special price offers going on at the moment and is available at a price of £50-60 at some online stores:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vax-VZL-702-Performance-Bagless-Cylinder/dp/B000NNMRNC
http://www.vax.co.uk/shop/cylinder-vacuum-cleaners/Vax-VZL-702-Performance-_Zero-cylinder-vacuum-cleaner

The Dyson DC18 Allergy is the top of the line upright vaccum cleaner from Dyson and is available between £185-269 on the internet:

http://www.great4floors.co.uk/ssl/aspcart/productview.asp?product_id=100871&source=froogle_g4f
http://www.dyson.co.uk/store/product.asp?product=DC18-ALLERGY&sicampaignppc=google&sicampaigntopic=vacuums_uprights

The problem is that there is a price difefrence of around £100-150 between VAX and DYSON cleaners listed above. And that is where I am having the biggest confusion.

I unserstand that investing in Dyson would be a good choice but do I really need that one. If the VAX VZL-702 does all what I need that why not go for this one and save myself around 100-120 Quid.

I have read the reviews for both of them and both the products have had exteremely good reviews.

Any ideas which one to go for??

The Vax is fantastic...I have had two of them in the last few years. However, 3 years of dog hairs have finally killed my current one and I have gone for a Bissell Lift off.....www.bisselldirect.co.uk
This also has great reviews

Thanks for the inputs. I have already placed the order for the Dyson DC18 Allergy on Bargain Crazy, but am worried about the warranty etc. as LitteWood Clearence (who own bargain crazy) are not a very reliable company.

I noticed the Vax VZL-702 after I had ordered the Dyson.

There is a big price difference between the two and that is what is pulling me towards the Vax. But, I think it would be a tough task cancelling the order and getting the money back from Bargain Crazy as they have already taken money from my card.

Dyson the 5yr warranty is spot on, you can extend it to 7 years for a small outlay too

That sounds like the answer, then, whatever else, don't buy Vax!

Had a Dyson for about 3 years, and it still has 2 years warranty! Had a Panasonic for YEARS before that, but it was never so effective even when it was new. Also have dogs, but they don't seem to wear it out any faster, and they certainly aren't using it while I am out! ;-)

When Vax first brought their carpet cleaner thing out, about 20 odd years ago I had one, and to suggest it was rubbish is unfair, as you can recycle rubbish!

This Bissel thing... there is no info even on the web site.... most manufacturers are keen to shout about the power, but not there!

you should gt a warranty card w the Dyson, you can then post it off and you're covered

I was about to suggest the bissell lift off too, they are spot on and will beat the dyson hands down, we got ours as a refurb from bissell direct, in essence they are as good as new with all new filters fitted, for the price of a new one £140 with a 2 year warranty you can have 3 plus change refurbs! Currently £39.95 delivered with a one year warranty, ours is going strong after a year and its original filters and thats in a home with three kids 2,5 and 7 (so lots of mess) two dogs (lots of pet hair) and a coal fire (coal dust and ash spillage), we cant recommend it enough and people who have seen it in actiona have all bought one themselves.

Bissell lift of reconditioned £39.95

You are not looking too hard then! Power ratings are misleading though as that is the amount they use, you can have one less powerful but using it in a more efficient manner.
Designed to meet all of today’s cleaning needs, the BISSELL ‘Lift-Off’ must be the most versatile, full size 2 in 1 upright vacuum you can buy today. It’s a super powerful 1600W, bagless, easy to empty upright vacuum with:- seven height adjustments, an extra wide cleaning head, a hepa filter and a 30ft power cord. It’s also a ‘grab and go’ cylinder vacuum complete with deluxe stretch hose, telescopic wand and tools that simply lift off the main frame - perfect for
stairs, curtains, difficult to reach places and even your car.

AH!
All is clear now! I thought we were talking about new, and hadn't given a thought to the "reconditioned"

I hadn't realised it would be linked on the 2nd hand page, it wasn't on the links I followed... ie NEW: https://www.bissell-secure.co.uk/site/product.php?prodID=26

It is a CRAZY price then (new) at 150 quid - although I don't consider second had gear is often a bargain, (and get a bit cheesed off when very inflated priced refurbs are listed here) but the 40 quid delivered is at least actually cheap, at about a quarter of the new price, and for that reason might actually be worth a stab.

The one we got was as new there was no sign of it being a refurb, what happened at the time we got ours they do the 14 day no quibble deal, and they had had a promotion on making the next model up cheaper than the lift-off so of course people where returning the lift-off and ordering the next one up!
