Which phone do you have or would you choose out of these and more importantly why (or why not)?
Also which is best for photos and video?

1. Nokia N97
2. Sony Ericsson c905
3. Sony Ericsson W995
4. Google G1 phone

Cheers peoples :)

if youre only looking for photo/video performance you may want to look into Omnia 1890 HD (8mp and HD recording) or HTC Touch HD smartphones (5MP)
heres the comparison of the two:

A phone that crams 12.1Mp camera does not mean it's good, it will in fact be a waste as even a 4/5 Mp camera is good enough, it's the camera lens and sensor that defines wether it's good or not

I would choose the Google G1, If i had the money then it would be in my pocket

dont get the c905. it has serious problems with the speakers not working and needing repaired alot mine did it 3 times before i gave up and got a new phone. I know other people have had the same problem with it too.

The HTC Hero is the premier Android phone probably now.

im well aware how a camera works and performs thanks, the op was looking for a phone that takes good pics and videos and i suggested this

i think sony are usually pretty good with lenses actually...probably the best in fact and this will take larger photos than ever before

Primary 12 MP, 4000 x 3000 pixels, autofocus, xenon flash, video LED flash
Features Touch focus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection
Video Yes, [email protected]

ive heard the old mp do nothing and pics dont get more detail than 3.2mp seems thats now been changed to 4/5mp.....wonder whats next? 7/8

Agreed. My DSLR has only 6.1MP

There isnt a non DSLR camera on the market that would take better photo's. The phones in cameras are fine for kids, as is the "mine is bigger than yours" approach.

Not entirely true, bear in mind there are non-DSLRs out there with large sensors which can outperform the older Nikon 6MP sensor.

However a camera phone at 12MP isn't going to touch even a reasonable compact camera never mind anything bigger. While it's an impressive marketting feat to pack that many pixels in I doubt there's any genuine improvement as it's probably the same sensor size and there's bound to have been compromises in pushing up to that resolution.

I have a basic 3.2MP on my phone (third one to have this camera module) and despite having a keen interest in photography I find this one functions well in its role as a phone camera.

In reference to the original question, I currently have a 5800 (previously an E90) which was meant to be a stopgap to the N97 as on paper it seemed to offer everything the 5800 but with a keyboard. However having tried it out I've been disappointed with it, the keyboard seems awful and the network reception doesn't seem to be at the same level as the 5800. The C905 doesn't seem to be well built as I've seen a lot of problems with the speaker section particularly, I haven't tried the W995 yet. The G1 doesn't seem that well built and the design is a little strange for using the keyboard.

If interested in the N97, Samsung have their own version with a fancier camera and video recording although there's no physical keypad at all.

w995 takes really nice shots in daylight, but as with all camera phones not so good at night shots

Thanks guys.

Ive been in to look at some phones and i think it's a choice between the w995 and the c905.
It seems from feedback and reviews that the c905 is much better for photos and video but i am worried incase it has all the problems that have been well documented.

Does anybody own either of the phones and if so, how have you found them?
Cheers

Yeh this is what im worried about.
My G800 takes absolutely brilliant shots during the day but carp shots at night or in clubs etc.

I had the c905 - fab camera but had to be sent away for repair god knows how many times!

Finally sold the replacement I received....I do actually miss it to be fair....good features apart from the constant problems - keys etc

:)

Yeh i really like the phone from what ive seen of it and the reviews are great ... apart from the fact that it has had a lot of problems that keep reoccuring.
When did you get yours?
Theyre supposed to of ixed all the problems now but i cant help being sceptical!!
Also, how much do you pay a month and what calls/mins etc?
Cheers
