It seems there are so many people going to loss there jobs again. Think it won't be long before Jessops go too. High Street Stores need to realise that they need to reduce thier prices to give any kind of competition to the online retailers who mostly offer free delivery and a hell of a lot cheaper prices!

Thinking of the ones out of a job.....

Yes but in order to do that their overheads need to be reduced first. The cost of running a shop (ie. rent, staff, heating, lighting etc) is a massive expense for high street retailers so cutting prices to compete with the online stores would put them out of business anyway.

Yeah but online places have these costs too, ie the rent, the staff etc. Maybe they are not as high as high street are but they still have these aswell and still the prices online are sometimes vastly reduced to what you find instore. Even HMV online is cheaper than the stores....surely there things come from the same supplier so should be the same price? But what do I know :p

Agreed, however some policy's are plain stupid.
I wanted a book last week, smiths online were £3.99, £6.99 instore.
When I spoke to the sales assistant she wouldn't math the website, fair enough, wasn't exactly expecting them to. However she told me to order it online to collect in store as it was free delivery to store.
So they had to get someone to pack the book, deliver it to the store and give me it for £3.99.
Surely that cost more than just giving it to me instore the first time for £3.99

Totally agree, the books are mostly half the rrp online and as you said you can get free delivery to the store....yet you are charged the full rrp in store? ( maybe get £1 off if they are having a 'sale') It's madness sometimes......:whistling:
