Who else is looking forward to Christmas?

With so many people moaning about the cost, commercialism, stress of Xmas...I just wanted to shout 'I LOVE XMAS!!!!'

I love everything about it. The food, the pressies, being together, decorating the tree, xmas cds, hot chocolate with marshmallows, chestnuts on the open fire, scented candles (apple and cinnamon!) ..and hopefully SNOW!

Can't wait!

Not me. Christmas holiday is a nice bit of time off but the actual day I could do without...

I'm guessing you have kids, then it's a different ball game.

With all the talk of the credit crunch and economic downturns I'm going to have a great Christmas to cheer myself up - whether I can afford it or not lol.

That's the spirit! You need to spoil yourself from time to time!
Anyway, thanks to the interest rate cut my mortgage has just gone down £200 so I can afford to spend a bit more now :p

The only thing I don't like about Xmas is writing cards. Hate doing that, I'm sure a lot of others do too. Makes me wonder why we bother with it to be honest.

Am similar have no kids, so xmas seems a bit pointless, hence I normally I treat it as just a holiday with presents. This year for a change am off to Lapland for a Skidoo Safari and a Dog Sledding Safari.

The only I don't like abut christmas is it's all over to quickly!!

Yes, the anti-climax is bad. I want Xmas to last for a 2 weeks, not 2 days!
#15
I used to love it but now there is a tug of 'who goes to whose house' at Christmas! Get fed up with that part as parents live 100 miles away and inlaws live in Scotland, so impossible to please everyone without a Tardis!

This year staying at home...and have upset everyone...except ourselves 'yippee'! Looking forward to watching the kids get up and open all their presents from Santa! :santa:

i cant wait got my 2year old, and i'll be ready to pop this one out lol, just hope santa will give me my wish of a pain free labour lol
#17
I think the day after boxing day should be a holiday day too, I still like a few drinks on boxing day!
works out well this year with christmas day being a thursday, get the weekend off!!

I love the build up to christmas. My favorite time of year is Oct-Jan. But I love the hype. Looking at all the christmas goodies, sounds smells etc... But the day is always very disappointing. Especially the last couple of years.
This is usually because the rest of my family don't want to make the effort. Even on the run up to it thinking about it, I put up and decorate the tree (my brothers do a half assed job because they can't be bothered), I write the christmas cards, decorate the house, buy mum and dads christmas presents (the night before brothers still haven't got them a present so it ends up address from all of us) etc...

But I do love all the christmas movies. On christmas day i'll put on the muppets christmas carol (my best ever christmas present from 2 years ago!!), the grinch stole christmas, the nightmare before christmas etc... While dad moans that it was cr*p and me and mum get to drink a bottle of wine!!!

And its the only time of year you can gorge on cheese, and cosy up under a blanket bu the fire. Awww!

I have that problem too, the in-laws and my parents live opposite each other so it's not too bad. Always going to upset someone though, our argument is always who gets to see the grandkids on xmas day and who gets them on boxing day

Oooh Cdemico! You've just reminded me...have got to buy some xmas dvds. Love Muppet's xmas carol!

I don't have any problems with visiting parents/in-laws...they all live abroad! So we stay home, just the 3 of us, lovely.
#21
I love christmas, its the one time of the year that the whole family sit down and have food with no argument no hassle and a good old banter between everyone.
#22
I love christmas but as soon as I've bought all the pressies I find the build up unbearable as I just want my kids to see them. never sleep on christmas eve as am too excited and fall asleep after christmas dinner after surviving on adreneline all day!!!!:santa::santa:
#23
the cards are a nightmare to write but love getting them so i suppose it's worth it
#24
I love Christmas.......the only thing I don't like are the DFS sale adverts that start before Christmas eve:roll:

I'm looking forward to my bf's mum cooking a nice christmas dinner for me and my bf

I heard fairytale of NY on radio the other day, always puts me in the xmas mood

I LUUUUURVE Christmas, always have done but have to admit that it's better now we have children (7 & 3 yr old girls). Love the build up to it and get excited, prefer giving pressies than receiving them (although would be peeved if I didn't get any!!) but have to say that by Boxing Day I've had enough and want the tree down as it's depressing. Now we put the tree up at the start of December and by the 27th it's on its way down. 5 weeks on Thursday!!!!
#28
i'm happy for you. :)

Dreading it. Love the christmas music and films, but other than that I am dreading it all.

I'm soooooooo looking forward to it this year. I've got a 3 and a half year old and a 4 year old (although will be 5 by the time it's xmas) and this will be the first year that my youngest has been able to open his pressies, so I'm very excited about seeing his reaction to it all. Although at the same time I'm dreading him finding it all too much and ruining the big family chrimbo dinner......

I've been incredibly organised this year and done all my kids pressie shopping AND wrapped the lot already. Ner ner ner :p
#34
I've done most of my xmas shopping. I love wrapping the presents in the evening when all the decorations are up and i have christmas songs playing. :santa:

I can't wait!! :w00t:
#35
yeah its ok, but now the kids are older not so much fun in watching them opening there presents just have to wait for the grankids lol. Cant wait for the New Year off to Butlins again for a BIG party & my 40 birthday ON NEW YEARS DAY.:w00t:

I absolutely detest Christmas. Coming from alcoholic parents who were ****** all over the holday period way past New Year and had to face physical, verbal and mental abuse every waking hour I am unable to find any Cristmas cheer.

I can understand how Christmas holds bad memories for you then :-(
I think Christmas can be a hard time if you see other people enjoying themselves when you have no reason to feel festive yourself.
#38
so sorry to hear that. I can't imagine how that must have been

ME ME ME I love Christmas:santa::gift::stocking:
