Trying to find out,as I've just had a leaflet from EON who claim to be 8% cheaper than British Gas - they also give out Tesco Clubcard points..... would it be worth making the switch ? ? ?

use uswitch or similar.

It all depends on where you live/how much you use etc.

E.on's prices (some special deal) are 8% cheaper than BG's standard prices (you should never be paying standard prices as they're generally always more!!)

as said you will need to use a comparison site, or a few of, it depens on area also gas used, as prices can vary so much, some dont have quartely charges but dearer tariffs, others have quartely charges but cheaper tariffs, etc,etc

I wouldn't go near British Gas unless you want a load of hassle to go with it!!!

question:

How does energy from different suppliers work?
i mean it comes down the same pipes and wires, who actually runs the substations and gas plants?

everything comes down same pipes, from same tanks etc,etc so say i used 360 units via BG then BG pay the big drum man 360 units, and big drum man pays whoever for 360 units, does that make sense

It's not switching that's the hassle, it the problems you have if you ever need to go near customer services. Over a year to sort out one gas bill (i was getting charged for someone else's meter), despite contacting them numerous times and them acknowledging this, nothing was ever sorted out. Only ended after they sent me debt collectors letters, to which I sent a letter myself threatening legal action of my own.....

I think most people can recall very poor service from one utility company or another (BT for example).

For me so far, BG have been excellent and I've saved in excess of £200 in 6 months on what was my previous cheapest supplier.

Fair enough, there's always an exception...
