Hi folks, well its a pretty simple one really. We have flights booked to go to Far late August, but the choice of where to stay is endless, and prices vary quite a bit too!!! Now were looking for somewhere pretty quiet and dont mind around an hours tarvelling from Faro airport.

We like somewhere near a beach but dont mind a short drive to get there and hopefully a small complex with a shop or two and a few restaurants to choose from.

Any ideas you can give us of a nice place would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks!!!!

Lagos is very nice, it is a small fishing village with some nice restaurants, we stayed in a hotel about 20mins walk from the centre, and whilst I would not not recommend the hotel as it was full of "Brits on holiday". Lagos itself was lovely and peaceful. You can sit and watch the fishermen tending their catch or just stroll along the seafront. We travelled to Worlds End whilst we we there as well which is beautiful on a sunny day. We would go there again!

Silves is a nice quiet place, you can pick the main roads up to go to the beach, shopping in Portimao or out to Monchique and the countryside. Will be a little cooler there as well because August in the Algarve is HOT!!

Vilamoura is gorgeous... It's a quiet area, but everything is within a good driving distace - beach, water parks, shops etc.

Are you serious! If you stayed away from every country where there has been a missing child you would go nowhere and how would you be able to stay in the UK??? How many kids going missing here without the blaze of publicity??

I stayed just outside of there in a smaller group of villas, we were allowed to use the facilities though and it is very nice especially for a family.
A fair drive from the airport though so be prepared for it, there are some lovely coves near there where often you can find a sheltered beach with just a few people on it... (usually German!)
I love the place, nice friendly people so dont forget to get out and meet them .... have a good one!

cheers for the info, the drive should be no problem, just done 2500km round canada in under a week so the hour or so from the airport should be a breeze hahahaha
