Yes, but I'm off to bed so am not gonna extend the story (so won't be exciting or prize-worthy :-( ) :-D

Met her via Skype a year and a half ago. Been together ever since - been living together since late last year.

i wonder if people dare to own up. most of my friends who met online and became couples have all broken up now. only left OH and myself (well we were friends first, never contemplated relationship being cynic realists ... and then i went over as part of a holiday journey) and we've been together since .... that's 8+ years.

My girlfriend and I are a myspace case, sad or what :p we're both quite geeky though so we find it kind of novelty. Basic story is we took the same course at uni, never spoke in lectures or anything just admired from a far. About a year later i stumbled upon her on myspace randomly one day, agreed to go for a drink. Had a perfect first date and we have been inseperable ever since! 2 years or so down the line and we're just about to finish our degrees and move out to the real world :-D

I dare. I met the wife online, been married 3 years last wednesday. I'm not sad, just lazy:whistling:

in this day and age, internet, chat, forum, myspace etc is the movement. i still prefer face to face 121 and cherish friendships and spend time with my real mates but being on the internet is like being in an arena.

ps: we're not married still after all these years, count that as lazier ... lol

Met my OH via the chatroom on the dreamcast back in like...1999...we were only ever online buds until we met in 2003 and started 'going out' straight away. Engaged now and will be celebrating our 5 years together at the start of June.

I am not sure if relationships started on-line have the same stigma they use to do. Probably because of txt messaging taking off so much. I mean, its not uncommon now for people to go out on dates but do the nitty gritty talk over txt messaging. Usually the relationship being confirmed or ended via txt messaging also, no different than doing it on-line as far as I can see heh.

As long as your happy in your relationship now its real, I don't think it should matter how you met your partner whether it was at work, on-line or a friend of a friend via txt messaging.

About 10 years ago (when i was 17) i used to think internet dating, or hooking via the tinternet was ridicuolous and embarrassing.

Fastforward to now and its a very popular method of dating these days. Crazy how it's all changed.

The reason i thought it was sad because i believed there were a load of fakes mingers out there pretending to me a super model they weren't. But in reality there are some seriously sexy ladies out there. Other reasons i was embarrassed - what people would say if i owned up to meeting a girl online, mates would take the pis, was i too minging to meet a girl in real life?? etc etc.

Without sounding arrogant and conceited, im pretty ok looking so i think for me it was the whole "mates taking the pis" thing that got to me. At that time they would've done. However, these days they do it themselves! With all these photographers out there when your clubbing, all the pics end up on the net and social interaction begins. Then we have the likes of 2 massive social networking communities - MySpace and Facebook.

My story started about a month ago when i was casually speaking to a girl via a forum. Things were great and then came a shocker - she lived and worked as a school teacher 5 mins away from where i work! - small world.

We both mutually agreed to meetup as mates at lunch and things just went from there. She is extremely beautiful and her personality glows. I think i'm lucky but she constantly insists she is lucky one (errrhhh i am pretty sexy though so she might be onto something there) lol.

Anyways in just over a month we've had 0 conflicts and we see each other every day for about a couple of hours. I don't wanna jinx myself but i think this is the one i will end up spending the rest of my life with. I know its the honeymoon period but i can't put it into words. When you know, you just know. We discussed the option of making something up about "how we met" to avoid the pi5stakers but we've stayed true to the facts and everything is running sweet as a peanut.

Now tinternet dating is ok in some situations but please be aware of the idiots out there. There are some seriosuly F'ed up people so be cautious and careful.

Here is a funny video of someone who got caught meeting a dude on MySpace. It takes about 40 secs to get cooking but its a gooden. The brothers comments are classic:

Met my OH over 3 years ago via an internet dating site. We lived 120 miles apart, couldn't see how it could work. We met every weekend for a while when, to cut a long story short, he moved in with me. Been together ever since, getting married in July. He's 12 years younger than me - a real bonus. I always believed younger men were more 'active'!

I met my hubby in a chat room i had been a regular for a couple of months when he came in after being away for a few months everyone was checking his new pics and i wanted to see so he sent them to me on msn and 9 hours later we had to stop chatting to go to work, we met 2 weeks later and i moved to Northampton 4 months later. Met my OH on Myspace......took the mick out of my mate for going on there looking for women for a year before...

Split with my missus, he did me a site for a laugh and to try and make me feel better. 2 months later met my missus. Been together 18+ months

I'm still blaming him for ruining my life!:p

Looks like the net is getting a popular place to meet these days!

I met my husband on msn chat 6 1/2 years ago. It started out as a bit of fun just me and the girls chatting to a few guys (back then we thought computers were for geeks :whistling:)
I never had the intention of meeting someone. I got chatting to this guy who seemed funny and after a few weeks I felt myself wanting to talk to him all the time, at this point he had seen my pic but I had not seen his (dodgy or what!) Well to put it bluntly he was not my usual type! I was the stereotypical young girl who never dated a guy unless he was tall, dark, handsome etc etc normally the bad boy! It goes to show you that looks don’t mean everything. I had already fallen for him and decided to meet up.

Well, typical bloke he was running late so me and some friends headed to a nightclub and I was strutting my stuff on the dance floor with my friend and I could feel this guy staring at me and I knew it was him. I ignored him until it got so obvious that I had to say hello, we had a snog and I suppose the rest you could say is history!

Over six years on we are happily married and have 3 boys. I think the net is a great place to meet as I always used to judge people by their looks but I have learnt that people can be beautiful inside and out. Friends said it would never last and being 10 years my senior but we showed everybody and I know our families could not be happier :)

I met mine online... i then moved a few hundred miles down to his.... for uni obvousley. So we're now both at the same uni and will graduate at the same ceremony! it'll be our 2 year soon, has gone sooooo freaking fast!
Before i moved done here he would come and stay at mine most weekends while i worked! (he had football to go to! I only live about 45minutes from spurs, where he lives 2-3 hours! hehe)
He has been amazing to me, stayed with me during ups and downs.. and a pretty important operation (thus why i am at his uni!)
he's lovely :)

I used to chat on MSN when i was like 13... but only to make friends.. found I spent so much time on it that I stopped (still dont use it) I probably spend most of my internet time on HUKD now.. but before that it was things like youtube.. not really places to "pick up"

I find that there are enough people I meet in person to keep me busy but then again i'm still at uni so still have time to go clubbing etc.. I did a placement at work for a year and the second half i had no time!

I met my OH on the train... used to see her when there were train delays and we'd both be rushing to get into the city!

A friend of mine in the US would have one of the best stories but it wouldn't sound great coming from me. She met her OT (who I also knew online) online and are now happily married. He finally moved from Scotland to the US and is together with her and her daughter. They couldn't be happier.

It's the "asl babez" type w&nkers who make meeting people online look like a sick, lameass joke! There's loads of great people out there and a great way of getting to know them is via what we're all in front of now.

In other good news my gf has chosen her university and it's in London, so we'll most likely be staying together in this house for another long while! woohoo

I met my OH on myspace (of all places! The shame!)...Kind of. He messaged me about three years ago, when I was doing a really boring temp job at a college manning the desk approaching the Christmas holidays when there were hardly any students there. Usually I wouldn't have responded but as I said, I was bored, so we chatted for a bit and he seemed like a nice enough person, but even though he lived in the same town as me, I refused to meet up with him because only losers meet people of the internet...

Anyway fast forward a few weeks, and I was out in town with some friends, and he came up to me and said hello. I had no idea who he was at all as i'd not even looked at his pictures. I ended up drunkenly snogging his very unattractive friend and going out with him for a few months (I maintain I was drunk the whole time). I still kept in contact with my now OH via MSN pretty much every day, and even went round to cook him dinner although he got terribly drunk and professed his love, and I got a bit scared and never went there on my own again!

Then in about May that year he moved to London, we stayed in contact and I saw him a little when he was back, but it wasn't until November that I went up to visit. And it wasn't until January the following year that I finally caved in and decided to go out with him - quite inconvenient as we now lived a few hours apart!

Strangely enough, after that I realised we had a lot of friends in common and it was almost impossible that we had never met before. We even have the same birthday, and discovered we had spent our birthdays at the same venue in previous years...

At the end of last year we both moved to Kent and it has been going really well and I couldn't be happier, although I've never admitted meeting him online until now - if anyone asks we say we met in the pub which is mostly true - i think that's worth a prize!
