Hi all. My girlfriend and myself have decided its time for a holiday, and we'd both like to take a long weekend (about 4 or 5 days) in Geneva around early June time. Has anyone been there for a holiday and have any recommendations for hotels or things to do etc? We're looking at keeping flights and hotel to around £500 (or less) for the whole trip to allow some spending money!

Any hints, recommendations or tips would be very much appreciated!!! Thanks :)

I went there last summer, its pretty but really expensive and not tons of things to do.... a canoe ride is pretty cool especially if you get close to that big fountain.... that gets a little scary!

We went for a walking tour too... the museums weren't that great... all there is after that is shops and more shops... we didnt plan it very well so i suggest you start googling!

If you decide to go take a steam boat tour around the lake it was very relaxing

go to berlin or budapest or athens... those places are amazing... venice is really nice but again not much to do.... porto is cool too but not many young folk around but really nice for couples, dublin is amazing for single people going with friends, paris is well... paris, copenhagen is really nice for all types of scenes!

We've been every year for a week for about 5 years. (Go to visit friends - stay at their place in Geneva and their chalet in Verbier.

Can't say there's masses I can recommend in terms of things to do. Obviously the Lake is a key attraction, but as we were socialising rather than being a tourist, Im not going to be much help. But ask away for anything specific.

I went to Zurich a few years ago and even though it was expensive it was without a doubt the best city i have ever been to, done amsterdam, berlin, paris, prague, milan, rome, new york, chicago, bangkok, dublin etc, amazing atmosphere, very cool & chilled out and loads to do for all ages, cant wait to go back

Geneva is a very cool place. I worked out there Feb 2008. When I finished my work out there I stayed with my wife at the Bois Joly hotel (www.boisjoly.com). Decent hotel, decent food, Great views of Geneva and was reasonably priced. Hope this helps.
