I'd also be interested to hear about what criteria you are expected to meet. I've always wanted to work in the industry, despite knowing the pressures.

right put it this way, avoid train2game spent that last 1-2hrs speaking to them, it all sounds to good to be true lol they want 5g from me to learn about making/dev games etc , i learn in my own time, **** that, it all sounds good but avoid them,

i think il take the college path and get my qualifications that way,

if you want to get into this , best position is q&a games testing then work your way up, so its best to apply to games developers for positions if avalible, which is what im going to do

do not go that route 5g **** that lol

That's awesome dude good luck.
I'm first year doing Games Design at university (starting 28th). What is it that you do exactly? Like design as in developing the technical stuff or the arty stuff?

My course is based on the artistic and the actual design process of games rather than the programing and coding etc.

again, best of luck dude.

BTW, I worked for sony last year as a game tester for uncharted 2. although it's not completely relevant, I'm currently looking to find a job as a junior web designer.

My brother had a choice to do the programming side he chose not to, and is going for professional software instead. Said it was "childish"

There is a new 'A' level equivalent course available worth 3 a levels im pretty sure which is the qualification to take you to uni, it's I-Media Btec level 3
http://www.bcot.ac.uk/school/courses/course.asp?course=778

This course at this college incorporates work experience with Sony and my son was accepted for it as we were planning to move there, which didnt happen in the end, but very new course that seemed excellent.

id need some sort of night school or self learning. i got full time job doing 3d modelling in the engineering industry, so already got an idea of how it works.
just engineering is a hell of alot more boring than computer games.
