people just dont like to doing something for nothing and rep is all you can give

i will give you a better response if you give me rep. lol
#2
no they dont respond more if rep is offered. I have asked for help a few times and had little response when i offered rep. Then when i didnt offer I had a lot of help(more than i could imagine!)
people will respond if they can help whatever-rep is just for fun after all.

completely disagree. I have a new website designed by sean for me through HUKD and it was done out of goodness not for recognition!
#4
Who cares! The only people who can see the rep is the repped, the repee and Admin (mods?). I could say that I have 30,000 rep points and you would not know if I was telling the truth or not. Like louloo said, it is just a bit of fun. Now when rep points become £1 coins ..............!
#5
There are quite a few rep mongers on here, so I can see why members offer it.

Not quite true, if you said that, and I was higher than you on the list, then I would know you are lying.

I think that I am correct in saying this.

I wonder how quickly this becomes a 'Back slapping' thread?
#6
it s only lately i have noticed this - and only on a few of them
if someone asks for advice i offer whatever knowledge i can - dont expect nothing in return

as thesaint says there seems to be a bit of pats on the back to maties - so what

hukd is still very much a community of helpers whether it is a good deal or good info
#7
i dont offer rep but i do rep those who have helped me

sometimes people cant even be bothered to thank u for your help that really annoys me

Is there actually a leaderboard on here? Not mocking you, just asking a serious question. If there is, it might be fun to see.:-D

I think it should be looked upon that if someone has more rep than someone else they tend to be more polite and more thorough in offering help not that they have been overly helpful or pouncing on posts to get rep.
#10
HUKD people are generally nice and share. we've all benefited from something someone did or shared so helping someone else with more info is not really a big deal for me personally.

there are a lot of things that people dont say thank you for and maybe for some that is a form of thank you. however if someone insists u shd rep for something they suggested for eg ... i'd say that's begging. what is rep anyway esp if you have said thank you. it's not like ebay feedback etc, doesnt improve your worth and certainly not an indication of who you are.

i dont offer rep but i do rep those who have helped me

I think this is the most sensible approach to the whole thing about repping others.
#12
agreed.

I completely agree with you some people on this site are only after rep. Have you not seen all the posts congratulating a member on 1000 posts etc its crazy!! You tend to find the people replying have a high number of posts too its a vicious circle sadly!!:x

Hmmmm. To be honest, I think it is ok. It is nice to see others acknowledging you. Again, it is not meant to be serious, just a bit of fun. I think it helps to keep HUKD as friendly as possible. :)

If you have a frown turn it upside down.

i quite like congratulating people on reaching certain milestones - especially if they offer something to the site- - snowtiger for her funny quips and pics - kippy for her pics and pieces of quirky info - skusey for his funnies etc - pinkmelons for her fab freebies -its just a nice thing to do really- sorry you disagree:)

as for rep - i rep a good deal or moneysaving idea if its something i am interested in - just a good way to say thanks
#16
high number of post is no indication whatsoever of the content someone posts. not sure what you're suggesting but for eg. the Modfather has 45k posts so what has that got to do with his worth??

plus not everyone is on facebook, myspace etc this may be their only lifeline sad as it may be. who cares!

i also dont think congrats messages which are meant to celebrate a milestone are a bad thing. it's all for a bit of fun. havent seen anyone ask for rep there yet but maybe time will tell LOL.

It would be good to have an option to disable rep in your control panel.
Also this should be forced on the back slappers. :)

The answer to the problem is simple. Those who don't like rep ought not check to see if they have any! No one is disappointed then.

I'd like to think that REP is a way of saying thank you!

Nothing else!
#32
u think any newbie might actually think REP = REPORT? lol
