My father has come to visit before xmas to see his 2 grandsons. Its his only visit this year, and he has spoilt it already by arguing with me about money!!!

WTF, why do they do it, is it that they just like to ******* annoy you

Mmm - be interesting to see if you will be similar at the same age...We all vow as kids, youths, teenagers and young adults - NOT to be the same as their parents, but elements of your own family and upbringing creep up on you over the years and bite you on the bum when you least expect it...(ask my kids  )

I think you are taking it over board. This is his first visit in a while so let him do whatever it is that makes him happy. You don't have to deal with everyday so I'm sure you can get through this easily.

Think yourself lucky you have a father to argue with, mine moved house over 7 years ago and didn't tell either me or my brother he was moving, he has only seen one of my children and has never met my brother's daughter. But neither of us know why he has done this. :(

So give your dad a hug from me.

I hear myself sometimes and think 'OMAGOD! I sound like Dad'....Naturally I will never be so obsessed with money as my dad is cos I automatically rebel against anything money related.

My kids on the other hand, will probably be just like their grandad (as they will rebel against my frivilousness)

My sister killed herself, my mum left us and my dog died.... I still would prefer to bitch about my dad coming over for his single yearly visit and being obsessed with money to the point that he is willing to cause animosity in the whole household just to get his own way!! Rather than actually talking about stuff going on in our lives so that we can catch up with stuff and have some quality father son time together
