WHY ARE THE GOVERNMENT WASTING MONEY ON THIS????

I made a claim for housing benefit after going onto ESA because of disabiltiy, the housing said I was allowed £100 per week, so £400 every 4 weeks, anyway my rent was only £368 per calender month making it £85 a week, so I received a cheque off the housing for £60 so I phoned to see what it was for and was told I had been awarded £100 but with rent at £85 I was allowed to keep the other £15 for myself, which is £780 per year for nothing whatsoever, I can spend it on whatever I want, so to get to the point if they do this with just 1million people that is 780 million per year just getting given away for nothing, and I reckon it is well more than 1 million people they are doing it with so how can they justify just giving away that kind of cash every year, couldn't it be put to better use.
Sorry it was very long winded.

I did ask them and they just said it was a new scheme they were doing and if you can find a property for less than your rent allowance you can keep the excess upto £15 per week.

I am complaining because I think they could spend the money on better things than just letting us keep it, some people have worked hard for their wages and have paid loads of tax just to get given to someone else for nothing.

It was designed so that people can find a property that is less expensive than the one they are currently living in. This would save the taxpayer money in the long run, but the £15 cap is far too low.

Well I do think it is bad, I am on Esa because of disability, but because of that I pay no rent (and get given £15 pw as well)
no council tax
no prescriptions, glasses or dental bills
if children in school don't have to pay for dinners, school uniforms
get extra money when it is in the - degrees for extra fuel used
if pregnant £500 maternity grant

some people who work only get the same amount per month that I get and have to pay everything out of their wages.
I think the government are way too stupid the amount they pay to people on benefits, no wonder some people don't want to work.

No, I am really grateful for the help I get, but think that we get far too much help, there really isn't any incentive for some people to go to work.

 I feel its more of how easy it is to get money from the government, i.e. if you cant be bothered to work, you'll eventually get paid. :?
There seems to be no intensive to push the individual's to find work, if there was only a more forceful scheme for someone to do work if/when they can. But correct me if im wrong, I have no detail insight of these things...
