I do Rugby training twice a week occasionally go for 30 mile bike rides I'm 12.5 stone muscular, I go to Rugby and 15-25% of the guys are fitter than me and it does my head in. I've got asthma but it didn't hold me back at school usually coming 1st-3rd in every running event I did.

I have cereal in the morning
Pasta pot and chocolate bar for lunch
then straight into training
I have dinner afterwards which is usually a take away as it's gone 930pm when I get home.

When I'm not doing Rugby it's good food

I don't think I eat enough but I'm hardly ever hungry, when I do eat I feel full after a few bites. Its a continuous battle to gain ANY weight which is what I want to do, everyone has always mentioned how skinny I am (was) done my head in.

I'm 26 still think I'm 18 but didn't think I would start to feel this old so quickly.

How tall are you? Do you have any dinner?

I know how you feel, I was always under 7 stone and hated it, ate all sorts and the docs even put me on special diet to gain weight and I actually lost it.

Can't understand why you aren't hungry though but a visit to the doctor wouldn't go amiss

 hmmm I dunno then, your first post indicated you didn't eat enough but you are easily in the right weight/height ratio

Some would say your diet isn't best but I have no room to talk, I eat around 5/6 meals a day. Takeaways are not that good. You should post in the gym/fitness thread, I got some fab advice in there

takeaways are like once a month if that

During the week its that country's crisp for breakfast, a beaker of milk, for lunch a tin of soup with 3 slices of bread, in the evening chips with fish and beans or pizza or spagetti, or pasta bake, or lasagne, or chips with fish fingers and mash potato and peas,

to be honest it doesnt seem like you do a lot/enough exercise. Maybe instead of a massive 30 mile bike ride once in awhile, you'd be best off doing 5 or 10 a night. Shorter amounts of exercise but higher intensity.

start off shortish distances but push yourself a little, then steadily increase the duration and intensity
#12
How much do you drink, alcohol I mean....there's you're answer ;-)
#13
get an instructor to help with your exercises..
different exercise gives different effect to your body & fitness... i.e. exercises to increase stamina are different fro strength etc. Also frequency, interval, diet etc plays part. Only the pros know these stuffs

You need some more protein in your diet for one by the sounds of it, if you are looking to bulk up.

What exercises are you doing? as what you may be doing may be insufficient in order to translate into CV fitness

how many caliores do you eat a day
how many do you burn?
#17
I was going to say maybe you don't get enough protein.

You need to increase your cardio as well - to gain stamina

I read Putting on muscle and size requires 4 important factors: hard-training, adequate rest, excellent nutrition, and great supplementation. I think you can get away without supplementation if you are eating well enough - but alot of people use protein shakes.

to get "fitter" everytime you do a bike session/running etc etc whatever you need to make sure you have improved from the pervious session.

so when you go on the bike for 30mins, take a note of how far the computer says you have gone.

next time do it again for the same amount of time and you NEED to go further then last time, and keep repeating this

its like if you run x3 a week at the same pace for 3months, your just going to plateau

okay just had two smoked haddocks yum, I guess I'm gonna have to start cycling the 5 miles to work and back. Gerbs not sure about calorie intake I know its high though. I drink a bottle a night but then I have a month off. Does cycling shorten the muscles in my legs making my running worse?

No.
its just a different type of exercise.

if you really want to improve your stamina when playing rugby i would recommend running and interval training. You are going to want to combine distance (say running a few miles) with interval which is high intensity exercise broken up by periods of rest or low activity (so lower over all distance for the workout period, but you are maybe say sprinting falt out for 100m, walking 20, sprinting 100, walking 20, sprinting 150 walking 30 etc).

from what you have said i think you also need to increase your protein intake a bit. do you do any resistance training also? (weights)
as say running/ resistance mon weds and fri, with weights tues and thurs you could see a real diffence to both your bulk, strength and stamina.
#21
a takeaway a day! u r stupid!

Mate you only do training twice a week!
join a local gym. go everyday for at least half an hour. swimming pool to is good for the stamina!
or do what i do and take sum lucozade sport! keeps u goin for ages, or a can of redbull or a caffeine tablet!
except dont take the lucozade powder cause it makes u angry nd u'll just wanna fight all the time
#22
consider getting checked out by a doctor before any massive increase in exercise, low energy level could be an early indication of many health problems like diabetes etc, your weight is borderline at 5.11 and 12.5 stone ie it sounds about right but depends on your general build.

I should have said it reminds me of the beep test, but yeah we've been doing training similar to that layout for years (even back in school I remember doing this), I just didn't realise the yanks gave it a name and yes it's a killer.
