For me it's because I have less faith than my parents and grandparents.

each generation seems to have less faith in religion than the last, i know very few people around my age who believe in god for example, yet most people my nans age do
also alot of people work sundays
or are hungover from saturday nights, we party more than we used to
#6
Different beliefs, more and more people in each generation are either uncertain about God or a particular faith, and many just don't see the point of attending church.
Personally I see to many negative aspects of so many faiths to actually attend a gathering regularly.

cuz ppl have forgot the little things in life. ppl only remeber god if they need him or not at all

i actually think its good to have this belief, i mean some people find such strength through their faith in bad times

cant stand when your in town and you have the god botherers shouting out sermans and quoting stuff from the bible at you, puts me right off church
#11
cos religion is bull****

Can i change my vote to this?
#13
Alot of people work weekends: I think it is because ppl see sunday as their only day off, and want to spend it doing what they want and not getting told what they should be doing.
#14
Science has probably alot to do with it. Big jumps have occured and more things than ever can be explained without religion.

lot more science and technology around nowdays and people like evidence and proof
#17
Also, I find it a pain that churches are always wanting donations, when they have billions(?) locked way in the vatican. So i dont go cos of them being hypocrits.

I am a christian, but i just don't feel the need to go to church and in fact find it really quite boring! The only times I generally go to church is when I got married and when we have our children christened.
#19
I have very little reason to believe, but I know some who do and they find a lot of solace in it - I think religion has its place in the world, and can have a positive effect but all too often we hear about the negative of religion which is probably compounding people's distance from it.
There can also be this fear of people who have faith 'oh no, it's the God Squad', there is a lot of prejudice, maybe fear of the unknown or the minority who give it a bad name I'm not sure.

The standard of eduction has increased considerably over the past 60 years, it has also been made available to the entire country not just the wealthy.

that is a good point, not as many ppl go to faith schools and society is alot more diverse.

Here we go again with the usual tripe and schoolyard logic. That's all I'm saying on the issue :)

Possibly LOL.
I have decided not to get involved with these discussions anymore as they always degrade into the usual unfriendliness. I don't see the point in debating with those who have closed minds (on both sides of the arguement).

Because it's a big waste of time. Religious people need to EVOLVE already.

Totally agree

I used to go regularly but have got caught up in everyday things, boys football, too many chores, visiting relatives etc.... I miss is sometimes as we had a great church and fairly young congregation although I must admit some of the older members don't always make newcomers or younger attendees feel welcome.

Because God doesn't exist (....Not the one christian's believe in anyway) , and more people now see this with more proof and information available everyday. I'm not trying to provoke a reaction, but this is the reason. Tbh the only reason most people do go church now is to get their kids into decent schools. Just look at how many 14+ children there are compared to <13.

I have a Agnostic view on religion, although can tell you that the christian God does not exist with 100% confidence. I pity the people who waste hours of their lives, and especially for the priest's who can't get laid because of someone who doesn't even exist.

Someone had to say it!

Less faith and less time. We also have Xboxes/PS3s :p

Car boot sales probably. They're god these days aren't they? And it's cheaper to get in!!

We live in a free society where you have the choice to believe or not to believe in a religion!
While it seems most people believe in their chosen religion - they have taken the choice not to worship!

Once the centre point of a community was its church, this is no longer the case for numberers reasons, both good and bad. I personally feel that this is a great loses and is reflected in the somewhat selfish attitude and lack of values within our modern society.
