Why do people "Reserve" a post........

black gerbil1 Avatar

When a member makes a thread , underneath they post first in post 1# and write "reserved" because they are going to add a picture/comment later on.

When you reserve something, you plan on using it for an X amount of time then give it back. were as posting "reserved" you are not reserving nothing, you "own" that post number and nobody cant take it off you unless you delete it or a mod deletes a comment.

so writing reserved is pointless and stupid.

This once again shows why I am in the 1% of population who have an IQ of above 175.

Why did you guys spam a perfectly legitimite thread? The spam button is only for removing dupes and spam and self-promotion, not for hiding threads you do not agree with or don't want to read.

I spam threads that are ones that I don't think should be there, e.g, if I saw one that I believe to be deliberately vindictive.

I am not sure why this one was spammed though :?

In answer to the statement in the OP, I wrote "Reserved" in the picture thread I made so that I can add pictures to it at a later date, I "Reserved" 2 posts, and have started on one of them.
If I didn't "reserve" them, the pics would be all over the place like previous picture threads. :)

my quarrel is not that you took the first two posts to add pictures, I understand that, but why do people write "revered", because when you reserve something you are using it for a set amount of time then give it back, I.e reserve at table at a restaurant. I think "pics to follow...", "joke to follow...", "links to follow" is more appropriate:)

Point taken. I did put "Names and marks to be added" to the 1st one, and reserved to the 2nd.

I guess it's a case of semantics, but we all become lax whilst on forums sometimes.

I will make sure that I conform to the black gerbil 1 standard form now on. :)

Does it?

http://www.reference.com/browse/all/reserved

1. to keep back or save for future use, disposal, treatment, etc.
2. to retain or secure by express stipulation.
3. to set apart for a particular use, purpose, service, etc.
4. to keep for oneself.
5. to retain
6. to save or set aside.

Are you suggesting your knowedge of the English Language is superior to a high profile dictionary and theosaurus agent?

So when you reserve something at Argos, do you intend to give it back after you have paid for it?

Expired again? Surley the Mods know who's doing it?

my previous comment had nothing to do with the integrity of that site, more of a general overview in the Internet. :)

I think you are right! I shouldn't believe some things I read on the internet!

So you reserve a number do you? Most people I know reserve the item they are going to purchase and keep! Most dont realise when they buy by reserving, they have to give it back afterwards.

I guess Ive learnt something. Wont be reserving things in future!

The number is a reference. (It could be your name for example) You dont reserve a number (or your name), you reserve the item you intend to collect.

Quit while you are behind.

Unspammed - again - do people realise you could be banned for wrongly spamming threads?
