i've only been a member for a short time but i've noticed that so many people get the right hump when their deal is voted cold! why!? just because the op found it a great deal doesn't automatically mean that everyone else will!

it's like the ops life depends on the temperature of their deal! i mean, come on- get a life!

thanks for listening :-)

They don't get the hump. Most people want to know why their deal was voted cold just in case there is a better bargain to be had :)

......i'd like to know why they vote cold too. If someone takes the time, their time to post a deal, chances are it's to help folks, perhaps cos they have been searching for summat and reckon that be the best price/deal.......so, if the cold voters vote cold cos they know better, share the knowledge, spread the wealth :)

As Stora stated, most people just want to know if they have missed a better deal. Just a suggestion,as a new member try to post a deal of your own & stop being rude to people who at least make an effort!

Normally this bugs me also, if a deal I post is voted cold I just accept I posted a dud and move on...the demands from some OPs when they see their threads voted cold are ridiculous:

"Why have you voted this cold, I was trying to do you a favour and this is the thanks I get? I won't be posting any more deals unless you all justify your cold votes!!!"

But I think it's a little different at the moment, as a lot of deals do seem to be randomly voted cold with no clear reason as to why.

I think you've hinted at the reason why already Starlet...

I only vote hot or cold depending on:
1) Is it the best price for the product/service?
2) Are there comparable products/services for better prices?
3) Is the product/service representing value for money?
Whether or not the product or service is particularly something I want has no bearing on hot/cold vote. I dont think a hot vote needs an explanation of why its hot, however out of courtesy a cold vote doe's deserve an explanation of why its been voted cold, maybe because the company is well known for shoddy customer service or the same can be got for cheaper elsewhere or even the product may have known shortfallings, this deserves an explanation to share the knowledge, thats what makes a community.

Deals have always been voted cold at times and will continue to do so, look at it another way, maybe all those that used to vote hot and bring the temperature up have now left, it seems not only will you not listen paul you are now trying to turn your balls up onto other members, which i personally resent

Just another way of looking at it:roll:

I only ever bother to vote when its a very good deal or a bad deal and will usually say why. But people do take it personally - but think thats just because its perceived at times as a put down.

It is good forum etiquette to explain why when you make a cold vote...
