Tribal scarring,many reasons....sometimes done by witch doctors or high priestesses at birth....sometimes a religious thing

If you mean the very deep scars it's mostly done in West African communities to mark the various stages of life such as puberty, marriage childbirth etc.

yeah like patterns or just lines on their cheeks. they are deliberate scars not by accident

scarification can be a mark of beauty o..
sometimes in Ghana when a woman has recurrent still births the child is "marked" as the belief is that it won't depart this world again

theres an africian male tribe that scare themselves all over to look more warrior and god like, forget who was on discovery one night and another that get scared when they change from boy to man by passing some test a tribe has
