Anyone?

Would like to give this thread the topic of 'Entertainment', but just don't think that would wash.

"utter rubish " I say and that goes for most of the stuff we have to put up with on our telly's.
Certainly not worth the licence fee.

Because people still watch it.

Well our tv certainly isnt worth the licence fee as half the time it is blue screen due to the weather on analogue or digital. We do have digital but you have to put up with the screen flicking off a lot. Unfortunately we are the last area for them to strenghten the signal for.

In my house its not 'our' TV ... its the kids.

the licence fee should be abolished and the BBC subscription only or have ads (which it does anyway these days - for its own programmes). Then those that love it can pay for it. Its just another stealth tax.

I hardly ever watch on air TV. Its all DVDs these days.

Take into account BBC America, the world service, the fact they make advertising revenue on all their websites from overseas visitors and only UK residents get them ad free, money from merchandising self made shows and umm ... the price of oil as well. If they done advertising they would still have Neighbours and make a tidy profit from a sponsor and peak advertising revenue. Not that I care where any soaps live or if they actually make money.

Lately i've prefered downloading program and watching them in my own time, but its only ever American shows or documentaries. Only british tv worth watching is the old sitcoms like Only Fools and Horses, One Foot in the Grave etc. But when u watch Prison Break, Lost, My Name is Earl, Dexter and others then you realise just how lacking British television programs are. Its unfair to expect us to pay £140 for the tv licence when only about 1% of TV i watch is british broadcasts.

I like the way Eastenders is true to life. Like when a new family (mum, dad and 5 kids) move into a house costing somewhere in the region of £450k, but the dad has a CD stall on the market and the mum works part-time in the Cafe/Pub/Club.

How did they get the money for that? Benefits?
