Why do we have to wait?

Why do we have to wait seven days from the time a thread expires before we are allowed to list items for sale again?

I'm sure there is a good reason, but what is it?

I could understand that if there was no limit on bumping, but everytime I have listed something it has vanished to the 2nd or 3rd page within hours and is never seen, with so few bumps it takes hopefulness to sell anything. :?

and of course there is the timewasters and I have had two recently pledging to buy and then never getting in touch to pay once I pm them :x

it is in place to stop misc being filled with how much is my item worth threads. which were acting as adverts for sellers items before then being listed in fs/ft.

because some people, would post a thread, bump it 3 times within a day, lock it up, repost and do the same thing all over again, and again, and again

I was bumping mine once a day only to see it vanish within hours each time, and then having to wait seven days to try again seems a tad harsh.

if there was no rule on bumps people would be bumping their thread as soon as it dropped off the front page, if you can relist as soon as locked, then there would be little point in having the bumps rule, round in circles really

This.

And the rules are to old for the forums uses now, thought the new system would replace the old but has turned into a waste of time.

there are some members who do this every day, agree with different threads, but they always have i dont know how many threads running, use 3 bumps a day then lock, then list another thread with different items, and do the same, etc,etc so when they bump their thread you are talking about one bump on each thread usually taking over the front page, same again with their locks

Yep that's because the system is to small for the users using it. If they just changed the forum space to a list format, and made bumps viable every day it would sort everything out.

- Only one active thread per listing section
- Two bumps daily after how many hours passed
- Various subsections.

No ones being unfairly treated like the above, where it happens all the time and mods can't do anything because the rules are to old.

So it's the selfish members who are ruining it for everyone else then :whistling:

Nah it's cool, just want to clear the stuff out, only another two days to wait and we begin again, thanks to all who answered

i wouldnt say selfish really, there are now thousands of users on there, so it only takes a few to bump their threads and your on page 2, add that to lock downs and your on page 3 five minutes after your bump

BUMPS are no good in the forum format.

when your thread gets locked by a mod, they post in thread to say thread locked and noone else can then post in it, if you didnt know this then you havent locked your thread and cannot relist, you have to wait a full 7 days from a mod locking it

yes two different things, if your item is sold you can expire your thread and leave it like that untill you are happy they have received their item etc,etc and then report for a lock, most do this if everything in thread has been sold, but say two things have sold out of 7, some lock up straight away because they want the 7 days to be over to relist the other 5 items, its entirely up to you how you do it, but you cannot relist something until the thread has been locked for a full 7 days, and after locking you cannot offer it in a wanted thread either for a full 7 days
