Why has DDR3 RAM shot up in price?

I was getting blue screens and memtest86 flagged one of my 2x2gb paired DDR3 sticks as the culprit.

So I look on scan and the exact sticks I paid £44 over a year ago are £74 now. Usually components start going down in value as soon as they are out. Is there a world silicon shortage or something?

What make are they? Mine have a lifetime warranty, OCZ Platinum

It's always the same with ram, starts off pricey, after a few months the prices almost half and a year later they are back to up to the original RRP.

Don't know why?

Might be worth waiting before you purchase, some news stories are reporting that DRAM prices will start falling dramatically soon.

Doesn't RAM usually come with a lifetime warranty?

They are corsair and yes they do have a warranty - problem being is I can't have my rig down for weeks while they go off to holland so I am probably going to replace them and then sell the replacements if corsair honour the warranty.
