Er, they've done that for years, I'm sure!

It's to help people work out if they're being ripped off for their postal charges.

I've been on there for years and started noticing it on some listings over a year ago. Was useful actually because I once bought something from someone who lived about 5-10miles away and they let me collect it that night instead of paying for p+p and waiting for delivery.

can you not just delete your postcode fromm that section of your personal details?
or just leave the first 3 numbers?

My listings don't have my address or any part of it. One account has 'Dinoland' and the other has something else but nothing to do with my address.
You can change it

yes i thought you could, as ive seen listings where selers dont have location registered

There's definately an option where you choose if you want to disclose your location, it sounds like yours is set to default to 'yes'. It's useful from the buyers point of view if you're looking for something very heavy or bulky where postage is not possible or very expensive.

just had this reply frm ebay

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. I understand that you are concerned about
your Postcode is showing up on search result page. I'm happy to assist
you with this.

First of all, please be assured that it is nothing to worry about it
your postcode is showing on search result page. However, it is good for
your listing to get more exposure, as prospective buyers may look for
your item through postcode.

Moreover, I do respect your concerned about this matter. Please be
assured that eBay always look about the security of their member on
eBay.

I trust this information is helpful and wish you all the best for your
future trading on eBay.

Kind regards,

James Doyle

nope mine was set just to display county ..
just had a thought is it because i used to have a shop and now i dont??

It's been about 6 months since I listed anything, maybe they've tweaked the listing system since then. I used to adjust it so that if I was selling something small like CDs my location would be hidden but visible when I was selling off some old furniture.

Try this:-
Click on 'revise' item then move down to Item location, click on Change location then change whatever you want to change and click on save. I don't think you can change the Postcode but when you list it should not show up.

Try this:-
http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyeBay&CurrentPage=MyeBayAddresses&ssPageName=STRK:ME:LNLK
Move down to Payment address: and click on change. Go down to the bottom of that page and untick Always use this payment address and don't ask me when I list an item.
Hopefully that will work.
Sorry I've not got a direct link.
