In a word: No

They see it as self promotion. I got flagged for saying that a fellow HUKD could get £10 for referring me to another site (I didn't actually need referring just thought someone could earn an easy tenner.) Very petty imho but i guess there has to be rules or there would be anarchy.

I'm only trying to do a good thing and raise money for charity! I don't get this site sometimes. So if I start a thread wishing others good luck etc and slip my sponsor link in then that's ok?

I guess that may slip under the radar.

Imagine if everyone put their sponsorship details in a new thread, the forum would be overrun with people doing it for themselves and their family and friends.

Just do it the old fashioned way, don't be so concerned with a big total amount.

Thing is there is no sponsor link in the other thread, that is what is not allowed.

Smaybelline, i guess they reckon that HUKD could be overrun by sponsor requests and not all from genuine members.

I am organising a Family Funday for about 6000 people and raising money for Make a Wish, Shelter and RSPCA and desperately need raffle prizes but i wouldn't dare mention it on this site:whistling:

might be an idea rather than asking all and sundry, who some have other issues .. to contact a real mod and get the real answer

I agree but unfortunately the mods don't always reply.

Your original thread was member spammed as you had posted a personal sponsorship link in the thread & unfortunately these are not permitted under the Code of Conduct Rules :
* Self promotion of businesses and anyone involved with them, survey threads, charity request threads made without prior permission, auction sites (with the exception of 'eBay Deal Of The Day' threads, personal sales elsewhere, links to personal websites, requests for referrals, referral links, third party affiliate links, advertising for personal gain and displaying of e-mail address in the forums is spam

If you do wish to contact the Admin Team then they can review, but normally direct sponsorship links are not permitted.

This is a general rule across the forums and other members posts have been removed for the same reason. Really good luck on the day though, and hope the weather is nice for you, it's a great cause:)

Good luck OP, I can understand the sites point of view, there could be some scammers who say that they are going to do something, collect money but don't do it, I am hoping to do a 11 mile moonlight walk in aid of Marie Curie in June on the Camel Trail, Cornwall, I've entered as normal but will be 33 weeks pregnant at the time, so will have to wait to see until the night whether I'll be able to waddle it, luckily my hubby is one of the volunteer marshals as usual, so if ness he can give me a piggyback, but apart from paying the £15 entrance fee and hubby's work are sponsoring me the £50 that the charity ask you to raise as the minimum, I have done very little personal sponsership this time, because I'm not sure whether I'll be able to manage to do it, I've always thought that its not the amount you raise, its the fact that you care enough to do something for a cause you believe in, hope all goes well.

It's a very good thing that you are doing OP and I applaud you for it.

There was lots and lots of discussion which led up to a thread from Admin:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/242945/suggestion-for-charity-threads

You can see the reasons for no charity threads in the OP and you can see that there were some suggestions made.

Some charity threads have been allowed and I think that if a number of members contacted the admin team with a suggestion of one combined thread for that charity, then it may have a chance. Individual threads with links have no chance I would think.

Thing is the link takes you to the race for life site where you donate online - The money doesnt go to me it goes to the site so how could anyone scam it?

Thanks for all your good luck wishes and i'll put the link in my profile if anyone wants to donate. x
