If this is a family site then why is betting encouraged?

More people would call the Gambling Addicts Helpline if they made every 5th caller a winner..

Technically... this is a deals site...

Focusing on... well.. deals!

I for one would ban all betting, loan, and credit card advertising altogether in the UK.... however, as its a country run by millionaires who have investments in the organisations that operate in the aforementioned.... that will never happen...

So.... i fall back to the first point.... Its a deals site.

People can do what they want within boundaries , just a day ago there was a huge dildo on an Anne summers deal , it was only £20 aswell!

I was gonna get on the dildos later.

Thanks for reminding me.

You get on them dildo's sir and ride them hard , loosen up abit man a take it easy ! If not theres plenty of lube on offer from a deal earlier on in the week.

quite ironic that the biggest spammer on HUKD is trying to restrict actual proper deals! oO

Or if you don't think it is encouraged then you're wrong.

The recent quidco offer was posted.

If this is a family site

Who says it is a family site?

HUKD is a community for deal seekers. Find and share the best deals, promotional codes and vouchers from on and off the web.

If you dont like betting deals OP dont look at them

Or should we ban betting shops from the "family" high street too perhaps lol

If people don't have self control to make profit from it that is their own problem.

I don't have a lawn so they should ban lawnmower deals too.

By your own admission, alcohol sale threads should also be banned. Alcohol affects a lot more people than gambling.

betting isn't the same thing as gambling. on this site I have only ever seen offers that promote an offer which in some way guarantees a profit or at the very least break even with a high potential for cashback.

let's ban alcohol threads while we're at it too.

While on principal I agree with the idea behind the comment, it's pretty unreachable goal. Yes there are plenty of young teens on the site looking for deals to spend their cash on or looking for gift ideas for birthdays/xmas and they will be highly impressionable about making a quick profit. At the end of the day there is only 1 direct person responsible for their actions and that's the individual themselves. or in the case of under 18s their parents (who lets face it should be monitoring them more).

As to the site being argued as not promoting itself as a family site, the Mods and Admit have said in plenty of places where bans and suspensions have cropped up that the behaviour of members needs to be suitable.

Further, where do you draw the line for what's suitable.

Gambling/betting - Can turn into an addiction - BANNED
Alcohol - As above - BANNED
Religious items - could be seen to promote a religion unfavourably over others - BANNED
Car deals - Global warming is a major concern - BANNED
Travel deals - As above - BANNED
Children's toys - It's a site mainly for adults, no need for kiddies stuff - BANNED
Sex shop items - These are taboo - BANNED
Books - some are about subjects that people may find offensive - BANNED
Misc - Filled with opinionated people which could cause an argument - BANNED and deleted

If anything the current unwritten policy of it being legal and following the basic posting rules for self promotion etc seems to work just right. Rubbish is weeded out easily and we all can vote how we feel about a deal and as a community self moderate what's worth looking at.

You missed out suragry sweets, fatty foods, fizzy drinks, computer games................

Most of the users of HUKD don't need nannying. Mboora is the exception.

Ban meat... it might be Halal.

On second thoughts, introduce a scheme where you can gamble on a product being Halal or not? Thereby offending all racial stereotypes...

2) Betting is not encouraged - deals for betting are posted as this is a deals website

Anyone with an ounce of common sense would use these free bet deals to their maximum and listen to what members tell them in each and every one of these deals.........match it!

Once people read the threads, those that are still too thick to understand that there is the chance of free cash, then they should stick to the cheap Mar Bar threads and chasing 1 penny Tesco Deals at the other end of the country!

I agree with the op.

For every 10 who do the quidco / TCB type deposit £10 and make a fiver, there will be one who gets carried away and loses money they can not afford.

Ban all the beer offers as well, because for every 10 that is sensible and only drinks all 20 cans from a 20 can pack deal, one person will go back and get another 10.......
