Have you accidentally knocked the tv slightly out of tune? Or is one of the cable slighty loose and needs pushing in a bit?

Check the manufacturing date on it - if it was made before 1954, they all broadcast in B/W only..........

Yep, it sounds like a loose cable to me. Check your SCART connection at both ends.
#4
tried that, and unless im being really stupid, its not working!!
#5
heard it was a major problem

Also, check the channel that it is on.

My TV has a few AV channels, and one of them will show consoles in black and white if chosen.

Maybe way off track here coz not got a Wii.. its not anything to do with you using an NTSC game on a TV thats not NTSC compatible ? Have had experience of this many many years ago on a m8s PS2 - he was using his first NTSC game on an old CRT telly that couldnt show NTSC properly.

Most probs way off track but you never know !

Which cable do you have coming from the WII,Is it one with three plugs or one with 5
banned#9
Is it because you have black and white vision. I dont look down when I wii so wouldn't know what colour it comes out
#10
Tried all av channels. It was working fine the other day and our tv is only a few months old. There are 3 wires coming out of the wii, the sensor, the power and the usb.

maybe unplug everything and start again, sorry not of much help, you havent got little ones that have been fiddling and put wires in wrong place or anything
#12
Power on Wii, give it a few seconds to boot
- Hold DOWN on the directional pad of the Wii remote
- While holding DOWN, press the RESET button on the Wii

you may have chanegd the screen mode in the wii settings, it can be 50Hz and 60Hz I think, somegames have automatically change it for you, that could cause it to be black and white, though with a new tv id be shocked if that were the case

We want to know which AV lead you are using.

Are you using the one supplied with the Wii with the yellow, white and red phono plugs directly into your TV?

This same lead with the adaptor to make it into a scart lead?

Or another lead?

Have a poke through the system settings part of the Wii setup. Under the TV section, there'll be a part that lets you switch from PAL to NTSC, and possibly, from one version of PAL to another. If you've got a British TV, you should have it set to PAL-I or simply PAL. NTSC is only for American tellies, and it will make things go all greyscale if you try to run NTSC on a PAL telly.

seriously its quite likely your game has changed the settings, go to wii settings menu and check the screen setup, switch to the alternative mode, i.r. 50 to 60 Hz or vice versa its wortha try

Yes, is it with the adaptor for scart, or the phono ones? I am quickly losing interest.

I think what the saint is asking is,, is the three wires plugged into 3 sepertae hole things on tov, or into a scart thing then into scart socket, well i think thats what hes asking
#32
Panasonic + Wii Black and White

Seems strange that this guy also has a panny and his is in B+W. Maybe some clues in there i dunno.

'My Panasonic is the same it flips between AV1 (colour) and AV1S (B&W) if you press the colour button twice' - from that thread.

Yes they are all plugged into a scart thingy. i just dont get it, its been fine before!!
#34
If the Wii is set to standard TV then the problem will be that the TV is set to Svideo and not composite,

But we need to know if the wii is set to standard TV first

As stated, it comes with one set of AV leads, but it has an adaptor for scart.

Exactly.

Edit: So it's in a scart plug.

So do you have more than one scart input on your telly? If so, switch the TV and Wii off, put it in(Scart lead) and switch the TV on and then the Wii. Important to do it in that order. Try with both scart sockets.
