I suppose you see where I'm going with this... If you have access to the internet to bid on something why not google it first and save yourself some money...

.Not everyone has easy access to a poundland.

In my case I'm just astoundingly lazy, and dragging three kids round the town with me, into a shop where one buggy doesn't fit let alone one with two children astride, on the only day the entire town and it's granny are trying to buy some random ***** from some random cheap shop just isn't my idea of fun. I will pay over the odds if it means I get what I need, when I need it. It would make me angry though, if the p&p wasn't realistic, or took ages to arrive.

Indeed,it costs 3 quid just to get to my local poundland.

If it's in-store only then it could cost a lot of people more to go out and fetch it rather than have it sent to your door directly. I can't say it's 'stupid' personally. Convenient more like.

Yep. I had forgotten about petrol and parking. Not to mention all the other random stuf fyou buy on the spur of the moment, that you really don't need.

well i usually google everything however the other day i was in a hurry (running out the door taking kids to school) and on amazon so just bought a toy straight off there for £8.50 without searching anywhere - how gutted was I when it came with a play.com dispatch note stating it was only £5 and free delivery - i emailed the seller on amazon who just told me that he searches for low prices and then adds on delivery to make money - what a scam!!! so gutted, am never making the same mistake again though!!!!

I agree with you guys on parking and driving.. but after all, it';s an auction and it suppose to be cheaper then the shop? I will still pay the petrol and parking and not paying a chance £3.96 for an item it sell for £1.00?? I know it's a matter on opinion and choices in the end.

Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. So if someone wants to sell something at an inflated price and people are willing to buy it at that price, then fair play to him for making a bit of money out of it!

My dad buys most of his stuff if not all off the internet as he doesn't drive any more and isn't really mobile enough for the bus, although whenever he tells me of his ebay bargains he always leaves off the postage cost for some reason

i know exactly what you mean, i've seen leapfrog tag (posted on here) at 14.99 on amazon delivered, whereas people are paying more than that for a second hand one ebay.

i've seen quite a few things cheaper new than on ebay.

but then again, i've seen things on ebay for a third of price than the shops.

so you really need to the right price before you buy things these days.

The thing is that people selling here will either
a) have already tried ebay
b) have got fed up with ebay and their fees + PP etc
c) checked completed ebay listings and priced their items to sell.

plus there a lot of scammers on ebay these days even for a few pounds. They do try and make their way onto here but the community (blitz ;-) ) spirit usually wheedles them out.

Ebay has its uses, but I would say is less popular these days than it used to be - and yes I have bought and sold on ebay

A lot of people dont seem to 'bother'(if thats the right word?) about the postage?

I always factor that into what i bid, as its an extra expense..
