Wide screen TV - partial view?

Hello, hope someone can help but I have a widescreen TV and for some reason the screen does not show the full width of the programme I'm watching (doesn't matter if I'm watching programmes on cable or DVDs). I know some of the picture is missing because the credits have text missing from the left or right side of screen.

Even adjusting the zoom options (eg auto, regular, panoramic, 14:9 zoom, etc.) doesn't correct the problem. I read the television manual but mentions nothing about this condition. What can I do?

Thanks for any advice.

sounds like the zoom function is switched on, you should be able to turn it off though, is this watching through an internal tuner?

Need to change screen settings to 16:9 on freeview box and cable, etc.

I have this same trouble - I kinda given up now and live with it but I'll keep an eye on his thread for ideas - very strange. x

I think it's "Zoom" button on mine and it doesn't make a difference to the perspective ie whether I've chosen panormamic, auto, fuller or full - the screen is "stretched" rather than allow the full picture.

Thanks for this suggestion which I tried but it only "squeezes" the picture on my television screen. I'm pressing every button on my remote hoping for a change to the view that I want. :?

Yep, tried pressing all the options on the "zoom" button and the beginning of text is still missing. The strange thing is some DVDs I play also behave this way. So I don't think it's the cable box or DVD player.

Thanks for helping.

Hi, do you think the scart would make a difference? Pressing various buttons on the TV and DVD remote controls has made zilch difference.

u can try it, nowt to lose have you any other sources you can try like a old vhs machine.
I had a freeview box go like this once. so that would be my first suspect especially as only some dvds do this
