Nephew has a learning disability.

He got a Wii console, wheel and a few games for Xmas (has bowls, boxing wrestling, is that Wii Sports?)

Now asking about a board but he is unable to give me any more details about what it it does. Have had a brief look and they seem to cost about £70ish (Argos, none in stock anyway)

He has a birthday soon and was thinking of getting him one but that is very expensive, especially when I have no idea what it does.

I am sure there is someone here who could enlighten me, are they worth getting? or should I get him something else for the Wii. He is a bit overweight and can follow simple instructions

What is it.

Are there lots of different lots of Wii hardware you can buy and then the games for each piece.

Please can someone explain Wii to me, how many parts are there. Is the board a Wii fit?

Wii Play is horrible imo, only worthwhile for the extra wiimote.

OP I got a special needs sister who's 22(bit overweight aswell), she finds alot of the games too confusing tbh. Stuff like Guitar Hero and Wii Play are just too much for her.

My sis loves Wii sports cos it's good and simple - still lets the ball go too early in the bowling too often :giggle: She loves Mario Kart though - saw her playing that and she looked very proficient.

She's also got an Xbox 360 and enjoys 'Lips' alot, glad I got her that now.

its a few games on one disc called wii play. it seems to be designed to get you used to the controls cos u have to pass one stage to get to the next each gettin harder as you go further along

Bought my sis the Mario Dancemat game for the gamecube few years back. Hardly ever used it lol.

Though strangely she is really good at PES games. Mind you she's been playing them for like 10 years straight - psp versions aswell.

I love playing lego batman, indy jones and star wars on the wii with my 5 year old boy. We work out the puzzles together. He loves it when we complete a level. You will need a controller and nuchuck for each player.

Not sure the wii fit (which my wife has) is what you are looking for. It's jogging, yoga, press ups etc. You can play other games that are specially designed for the wii board but I have only played rayman rabbits and wasn't exactly blown away and the shelf life may be somewhat limited.

Hope this helps you. Good luck.

We have the wii-fit and its not that motivating really. I would recommend Family Trainer for the wii - this comes with the game (based on outdoor activities) and a big mat (bit like a dance mat), this is very easy to use/follow and is very good fun and exercise - Costs about £40 ish.

In your circumstances, don't waste your money on the board.

Get a typical Mario game - you can't go wrong there...
