Once chipped what does it allow you to do?

I am a complete n00b at Wii modding.

Can you then take backups of your games and play them through the Wii? This would be handy as my son keeps ejecting the discs and throwing them round the living room! He loves pressing buttons!

yeah, you could also download the games and play them.

If you chip your wii can you still do everything the same as normal (play online etc). I heard that you couldn't play games online with a modded console...

and, I bought my wii on the day of release making it one of those "easier to mod" ones. is that gonna be any different? ...maybe i shouldv'e looked at the website first. :p

Ok, received my wii-clip + D2C chips this morning, came with a tri wing screwdriver also. I followed a video guide on how to take the wii apart... up to the dvd drive, because the dvd drive is where you install the chip, not the wii's motherboard.

I gave the clip a firm press over the chip on the dvd drive, and cover the D2C chip with the provided piece of card (covers the chip so that no contacts touch the metal plate, making it short out).

put it back together, tested a game that I previously backed up and works fine.

Click here for the one i bought from xbox-entertainment.co.uk, i can now recommend them

Sounds great. Will these fit any wii?
I have an early one (bought just after launch) so wanna make sure it will fit mine. DO they provide the video guide on CD or something?

Thanks

suddenly became interested but one question: D2CKey or D2C Pro? Or even Argon?

mines a D2C chip which I have fitted to 2 wii's (one for each) tested a recent game (mario kart) works no problem

Whats all this WiiBrickblock stuff then?
#19
So what happens when Nintendo send down a block on chipped consoles... surely that would be a case of throw your £45 chip away.... and start again

Fwibble... I would be cautious talking about doing jobs for your friends as it appears UK law doesn't look too kindly...... see : http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/683172/Wii_ModChippers_Arrested_in_UK.html

Say you imported a game and backed it up, so not to scratch your original disc, and realised that you the disc you had bought wasn't a PAL version.

The Wii-Brick blocker patches your backup iso, so that your wii doesn't ask you to update your console.

What I believe happens is, if you get a region locked game and play it in your serviced wii, it will try to update it with the wrong countries update, causing it to brick

odd to quote myself, but just wanted to point out that, that sounded like **** even as i was typing it

if there were i doubt you'd get a direct answer of where to buy them from, through a HUKD thread.

the backups should come from your original discs

Someone posted a site here a few weeks back.

#30

What's the Best chip and easiet to use ?

I have the Old Wii (Wiikey Compatable) :)

dcx_badass
Definately a Wiikey for you then. Work fine with every single game, easily updatable for future games, we've never had a problem, and it works without even needing to use the config disk and set it up.

So what Will I need ? A Special screwdriver ? Reccomend any companies ?

Thanks, Will leave rep !

So all I would need to chip my Wii would be the Wii Clip V3 + A screwdriver ?

Or would I need a wiikey too ?

Thanks for the help !
