well i have had a wii a year and never needed a cooler stand :P but i do have a charging dock for the remotes as the batteries go rather fast i think. it simple plugs into the back of the wii in the usb port. i got it from argos last year half price when you bought a game i think. hope this helps :D

Hiya,

You don't need the cooler, it's just another ploy to make you spend your hard earned cash.

We have re-chargeable batteries that we use rather than the re-charge stand, personal choice and and it's whatever you want to use (stand, normal batteries, etc) x

By all means get the docking station try and get one that uses it's own power supply if possible and not the wii's PSU or USB ports to draw power.
Look at getting one also where the batteries are equiv to 2800mah. Do not get the one from Woolworth's.

Do not use cooling fan.

You don't need one, but I recommend that you get one, I have had this one for about 9 months:

I prefer to use rechargeable batteries for my wiimotes, The docking stand just seems a pain to me, having to remove the wii jacket every time you finish playing would drive me mad.

Agreed, not a very good design.

You don't need to remove the jacket everytime you finish playing, just when you need to recharge, which is once or twice a week. Removing the jacket takes 3-4 seconds?

I have an all in one docking station and cooling fan, which I got from Studio about a year ago for £20. The cooler is pretty pants and stopped working about 5 months ago, even though I was cleaning it out regulary. However, the docking station is a life saver with the two kids, I'd be swimming in used batteries by now otherwise.
And yes, taking off the skins to dock is a pain, we leave the skins off now, even if it is a 4 second job!!
