Hi all,
I have a wii which i bought from the states in december 08 i want to have it modified so it can play u.k games and backup games
does anyone know where i can send it to, to have it done as i am not confident enough to do it myself, or could i send it to someone on here and pay them for their time?

i did a google search but not sure who to trust so thought i would ask here.

Thanks in advance

Do it yourself, it's simple - you just follow instructions, here

Get an SD card and just download ModMii (look on GBATemp) and follow instructions, it's extremely simple!

Does being a US Wii have no effect?

ModMii really is as simple as following a few instructions. It asks you a few questions which are easy to answer then it downloads everything you need on to the SD card then opens up wordpad with instructions specific to your Wii based on the answers you gave.

If you're really not confident then ask locally. if you're popular on Facebook then post a status update asking for help, everyone knows someone who knows someone who can do it.

ModMii lets you set up for any region then you disable region protection in one of the installed apps.

Yes easy to do. The hardest part is getting hold of a copy of Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures for a reasonable price. Using a clip in mod chip is just about as cheap.

That only matters if the OP is on 4.3, as of yet we don't know the version.

Very true, and reading it properly he says he's not used it for a year so won't be. :)

As it's a US Wii, that won't work.
I believe it needs Super Smash Bros if it's on 4.3.

If the firmware is lower, it can be bannerbombed like the days of old.

Follow this tutorial for 4.2U:

http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs-guides-tutorials-only/60921-guide-softmod-any-wii.html

Once done you can convert it into a pal one if you want.

ModMii is simpler.

I forgot to thank you for your reply the other week. As you'll have gathered from this thread I managed to do it easily enough.

No worries. ModMii is really simple.

If you haven't already got it, try out Wiiflow if you use a USB hard drive. The interface is excellent.
100 times better than Neogamma which I have been using for years.

Yes I opted for Wiiflow straight away, it is a nice interface and simple for my Son to use.

I bought a wii off here, and the seller has said make sure not to update as it is softmodded.

What is the best way to to not update? Is it just a case of saying no?

As part of the Modmii process it installs Priiloader which you can select to disable system updates.

The best way is to install Priiloader via the homebrew channel.
You can then set it to reject updates.

He said

"As far as I'm aware I enabled an update blocker on it which stops the
games from updating, I don't really know how it works, that's why I
couldn't offer a guarantee, the update thing confuses me so I can't
really help there "

Is that the thing you guys are on about? I've never owned a wii, and its not for me, for the oh. She will probably be dopey and say yes to a update even if i tell her not too.

Your woman doesn't listen to you and understand? That's a bigger problem than your Wii getting accidentally updated dude.

It sounds like Priiloader is on it. You can check, but I am not on my home PC, and I can't remember how to get into the menu off the top of my head.

I think it's by pressing reset whilst powering it up.

Yeah, you can scrub the games, but that is really tedious.
Just make sure priiloader is running.

If you come across a game that brings up an update prompt, just deny it, and Google for the Cios etc that is needed to run it.

I took my Wii around to a friends house at the weekend, and her son put in his copy of Black Ops, and before I knew it, he had accepted the update.

Luckily, I had bought Lego Indiana Jones the other week when Play.com were doing it for £17.99, so I was able to redo it again.

dcx_badass
Did Priiloader not block the update? Or were you not using it, just curious if anyone has tested it's ability to block the updates.

No, I have never put Priiloader on any of the consoles I do.

That way, I can then charge for reflashing them when they accept an update after i clearly have told them not to. :)

I suppose I should put it on my Wii's at the very least.
#27
Thanks guys, i will try and find out how to see if priiloader is installed. Does it just wipe the softmod off? Not brick it or anything?

I downloaded a american game, i converted it to pal.

Is that still ok to play? As long as i dont update it?

I don't think there are any issues with playing games from another region.
You can rip the games instead of downloading them.

Edit: I put Priiloader on a Wii I flashed last night. To get it to load up, you need to power the Wii up whilst holding the reset button.
I wasn't able to access the settings though, as I don't have a Gamecube controller.

I dont have a controller either, a gamecube one i mean. Will just have to hope it has been installed and set up properly. I am worknig away but am home tomorrow so can have a fiddle then.

I have never heard of converting a game. As far as I know, your loader should have settings to play NTSC games. I only have one, and I didn't have to change anything.
