Wii Modchips

Going to purchase a wii modchip and just wondering if anyone could offer me some advice. Have found out that the best one for me is Wiikey 2. (Mainly because of the price and the fact it matches my serial).

Have got two websites and just wondering if anyone has used them previously or could recommend them?

http://modmagic.co.uk/
http://www.hanger.org.uk/h/hangershop/products/WiiKey-V2-|-For-All-Chipsets-inc-D2E-|-UK-STOCK.html

The Modmagic one is actually cheaper, but not by too much. Thus i dont mind paying the odd pound here and there, if the other site is slightly more reliable. Ive actually emailed the second link website, for advice and they replied quite quickly and seemed genuine; although i havent contacted the first site.

Also I was told that it is best to get it without the wiiclip, im going to install it myself anyway and dont mind not using it, but can anyone confirm that they arent actually that good?

Thanks for any help

Get a wiikey 2, I have the original wiikey and it's never had a problem had it for like 2 years now.

And a modchip is always going to be much better than a softmod so just chip it.

i also have chipped my wii and also i have the back up channel just for fun

Yeah i was going to softmod it, but seems like a lengthy procedure, would rather just chip it and get it over with. Or is it quite simple to do? Thing is my warranty has run out so i dont mind cracking it open anyway.

What do you think about the retailers mentioned?

Im not too bothered about the triwing screwdriver (offered by the 1st retailer), as i have one already lol.

The first link doesnt have the Wiikey 2, and the second link doesnt seem to work? Tried the second link in google and doesnt come up with any results which may show the website?

Also regarding the softmodding, is it easy to do and safe?

Well it's easy, but it can be blocked at any time, and it already has been a few times, it's a constant game of cat and mouse, I'd just chip it tbh, softmod isn't worth the effort in the long run, fear of updating etc, incase it blocks it and stuff. CBA.

When you say it has been blocked a few times, does that kill you WIi?

I have got my Zelda and SD card sitting here, ready to go - but am in 2 minds whether to go for it as I can't possibly give up going online to play Mario Kart!

Too my knowledge, it doesn't kill your Wii, it just removes the Twighlight Hack.
you would then have to put it back on which takes 5 minutes once you know what you are doing.

As for it being "a constant game of cat and mouse", I don't believe that is the case either.

You can block the Wii from receiving updates in any case.

Someone with more knowledge should be able to shed some more light on it for you.

I would be carefull installing yourself you could knacker up your Wii in one swoop unless you know what you are doing :)

There are a few people doing chipping on BST for around £40 inc return postage, i can get you links if you need them.
