Wii NOT reading discs

Hi,

Hoping someone can help here. I had my Wii since launch and TODAY I went out and bought Mario Kart. Kids were really excited.
Put the dics in and it came up with "unable to read dics". Tried another Wii game, and same thing.
Sounds like a clicking noise when its trying to read the disc. Emailed Nontendo and awaiting response. Anyone help?
Thanks in advance.

Could there be something in it? Smaller children have been known to post stuff into the slot!

No, I'm pretty sure. I read somewhere on the web that it could be the cogs or something....

Had the same problem in January. Luckily it was only 4 months old so Game replaced it for me. It is a known problem and you should get it repaired/replaced.

Silly question, but anyone has any ideas on how much its gonna cost me to get it repaired. I've also heard that its a known problem, so was just wondering how much its gonna cost.

stupid question, but have u made sure its in the right way?

I had the same problem with Wii Sports. Eventually when I got through to Nintendo, they sent me a pre paid label and I had to return my Wii console - they replaced the disc reader in it. But it still wouldn't play the game so I returned the game and eventually got a replacement game and all is well.

Remember though to use this number - 01753483700. It's the same as the 0870 one but cheaper!

BTW Nintendo replaired and replaced all free of charge for me - hope it's the same for you.

When i put mario kart in for the first time, It was just trying reading the disc for about 2 minutes, then it came up that i needed to update . Then it worked.

Allthough you have already updated your wii, seems like its a hardware error

GOOD NEWS! I sent it off for repair last Monday, got it back yesterday. FIXED. Excellent Nintendo service, didn't cost a penny either, even though I got my Wii on launch day :)
