Nintendo will end Wii U production this Friday, multiple sources have confirmed to Eurogamer.

At the last official count, as of 30th September, Nintendo had shipped 13.36m Wii U consoles. The Wii U's final tally will likely now be only slightly more.

Nintendo's Japanese production line will shut down for the last time this week after the final deadline for orders passed yesterday, Eurogamer understands. Only a small number of further orders were placed.

Wii U launched back in November 2012 and quickly shifted a couple of million units, although sales have been steady to slow ever since.

Please let this mean £99 Argos deals. Let the glory days of the Gamecube return!

The Wii U is my most regretable console purchase since, well, the Wii...

Gamecube was ok but n64 was my favourite (alongside the Sega Dreamcast)..

I'll keep my Wii u until I've played zelda but it's packed away until then.

Ah if only the Dreamcast had played DVD's as well, Sega might still be making consoles now :(

If by some miracle Sega ever made a Dreamcast 2 I'd buy in a heartbeat.

It was about time. I think I'll have to buy a second (or three additional units) Wii U because some games require the GamePad and without it they're pretty much unplayable -- in January or whenever the retailers are selling them for less than £100.

Sega isn't even interested in their old/forgotten franchises to be revived much less for Sega to get back into the hardware business. That would be the death of Sega.

Been wanting to buy a wii u for quite a while almost bought the splatoon deal back when it was £199. Fingers crossed it drops in price sooner than later, maybe Black Friday or Christmas.

It should happen because retailers will now just want to rid their stock.

Hopefully they'll get the price on what remains low over Christmas, so people can finally find out that its a decent little machine, with a decent library of games. I love my U.

Gone far too soon, they didn't support it enough, a good metroid game would have been great or f zero.

The Switch looks meh.

Still at least it had the best game this gen, well 3 of the best actually, splatoon, xenoblade x and mario kart.

Nintendo just needs to make a good Pokemon game on their non handheld consoles with online features and it will be a goldmine.

Last time I enjoyed Nintendo was during GameCube days on Pokemon colleseum. recenrly bought a 3ds for omega ruby.

But they need to go back to the GameCube Pokemon games and add online.

Well, we did at least pretty much get F-Zero:

So the Wii U is finally and *actually* dead but no one wants to say it anymore :)

The Wii U was a massive waste of money for me. Paid around £400 day one with a bundle from Game and controllers.

Played it a ton the first month, then the wait for better games came. Mk8 and Mario 3d world were some of the best game on the console for me.

Then after those titles, I've lent my console out to a friend. It's been at her house for the past year, couldn't really care. Going to wait on the new Zelda title then it'll be left to collect dust or be sold.

Great concept, but underperformed big time.

with any luck it will get a big price drop, which is what its needed for months to get sales.

They confirmed it now, eight days later. lol

So, Nintendo were technically correct when they denied it happening on that Friday. And as we all know, being technically correct is the best kind of correct.

Oh yes, absolutely! You get the DLC with the disc release too.

Thanks for the opinion and link :)

Some of the tracks look a bit Radial-G, but maybe not up to Wipeout standard. Might have to see if I can borrow a Wii U and try it out.

I think the most play time on my system was Zombi U and Monster Hunter. With the Wii U you really need friends and family to actually be there to play it with you.

My console has mainly been used for streaming films and TV series.

Such a failed console and I most likely won't be buying the next one.

I would like to take a moment to just laugh at the people on this site who kept coming out with "The Wii U will be £100-£150" this time next year.

What about the system's library of excellent single-player games? Granted, the Wii U doesn't have as extensive a library as you'll find on the PS4 and Xbox One, but what it does have is superb, and more often than not, not available elsewhere.

Me saying it's "failed console" is because I was thinking about the console the other day and how much gaming I have actually done it on it. It probably didn't help that I had lost interest in gaming about a year after I purchased it.

It does have entertaining and unique titles but if only they had managed to have a good line up right at the beginning.

I enjoyed Zombi U, Pikmin 3, Lego City: Undercover, Monster Hunter, Super Mario 3D, Super Smash Bros (online), Mario Kart (Online).

Bayonetta 2 is entertaining but I didn't bother to play it after the first chapter, and the same goes for Xenoblade.

Super Mario Bros U and Donkey Kong I think really I only bought them due to nostalgia and haven't played much of either.

Great family console. We play it as a family pretty regularly. We love ours.

You sure about that ?

From what I can tell Nintendo receive at least 33% possibly up to 50% of the revenue.
Pokemon is the 2nd biggest selling video game of all time behind Mario
