Any tennis player that gets to number 1 deserves to be there. Especially a player that can get to number 1 whilst Djokovic is still playing.

Agree with the above. Turn the question around and ask does Novak deserve to be number 1 when he has lost in the earlier rounds of tournaments of late. Plus the rankings are based on results over 2 years so yes he does.

If he does get there (and I hope he does) then it is an amazing achievement !!

So it's been OK for Djokovic to be No.1 when Murray, Federer & Nadal have been off their A game?

Yes, if you think they were off their A game.

I agree, he is amazing to watch but it is a shame that Novak is not putting up a fight.

Even great players can lose their form which in turn allows others to raise their own game, Novac is having a dip and I hope Andy Murray gets the top spot, he thoroughly deserves it and it will be great for British Tennis / Sport, Come On Andy!! :D

Djokovic is only number one because Roger has past his peak and Nadal has been ravaged with injurys.

Also, he lost his bottle when Sharapova was busted for drugs. Probably ceased using the same gear.

The agenda against Murray is one of the most embarrassing things i have ever seen. Been going on for years. Britain's greatest ever tennis player, arise Sir Andy.

I second that one . Nobody gets to number one without years of dedication and sacrifice . He and his brother have been the best thing to happen to British tennis in decades

todays opponent, Milos Raonic has had to drop out after tearing a thigh muscle during his match yesterday...but still won it :D best wishes to him for a speedy recovery

If number 1 is not up to it, then No. 2 becomes No. 1;
if number 1 and number 2 not up to it, then number 3 becomes number 1;
irrespective of whatever.

Well done Andy, he's really upped his game these last 3+ years.

Injury free thats why. He has suffered on/off for years and now following surgery he believes his body can cope and trusts in himself.
