I don't see why they wouldn't though you may have to pay something if the contract is new ish and the phone you have isn't offered on the cheaper contract
#2
well ive had the contract since oct and i have the nokia 6111, so there are newer handsets around :)

There tends to be a minimum period with all networks before you can downgrade.

I think Orange is 6months or 9months, i forget which, call 150 to find out.

If you're on a cashback contract though you'll be invalidating all future cashbacks.

just called them, yes you are right its 9 months before you can downgrade, :(

yes your right about cashback but i would forfeit that to get the unlimited texts
#5
When did you order the phone?

How much do you text?
#6
i have had the phone since oct, on canary 40 i get 600 minutes 400 texts for £40 a month,

i text loads, they usually run out at least 10 days before my monthly top up date, i have to use a seperate payg :(

I ask because you can get a 2nd contract phone:

http://www.buymobilephones.net/store/fulldetails-r346212930-44140.ihtml

£50 (£4.16/month average) after quidco for 600mins/month or 1200sms/month extra bargain surely, leave it attached to your pc at home if you want and just type out your messages (i do this with my both contract phones and send silly long messages cos I type faster than I sms) using kphonetools software from SE to make up for any sms's you normally send while at home (and from work if you can) easing up the usage on your primary mobile :)
#8
thank you, i'll take a look :)
#9
you could even get the 2nd mobile to auto forward to your primary mobile, not sure it can do that for text messages, it can get confusing, took a while for my f&f to realise not to reply to that mobile.
#10
Well it gets confusing when i hve to use a payg, have to explain who i am lol, plus i pinch my sons phone and he doesnt like it very much! i have to reward him, gets expensive!
#11
You pay his bills and you have to reward him?
Shrinks could make a fortune off you..... joke :-D
#12
its a payg, i 'borrow' it when my texts run out on my contract lol
#13
hehe
if you can keep on top of 2nd contracts cashback it's worth it, especially on a flext tariff.
And slowly tell people it's your secondary phone and just to add that in as your 2nd number in their contacts :)

but what happens when she can change her plan in a few months and she is still stuck with the 2nd contract
#15
Keep the original contract as is to maintain cashbacks.
Keep 2nd contract until original one is on preferred text heavy tariff with whomever, once that occurs, keep 2nd contract as spare house contract phone, give it to her son.

I try to ensure my family doesn't use landlines anymore, 95% of calls are to mobiles when not int. calls.

im tempted by this

http://threestore.three.co.uk/offerdetails.aspx?offercode=18OL67D004

but again it is 18month contract
#19
Thats a v good deal if you don;t want more cashback hassle. 18x£15 = £270, £200 after quidco, £11/month average, ain't bad... over twice cashback flext deal though and not as flexible ofc, only 75mins...
#20
not too worried about minutes tbh, i get 600 minutes at the mo with orange, i dont use them, i had them roll over and have over 900 to use this month lol, im def a texter!

quidco is £100 at the mo for 3?

mmmm...oh descisions....
#21
i can add a 250 text bundle each month for £13 on my orange...

but for an extra £2... i'd get 600 with 3...
#22
£70 quidco on VTT500/DT675 on three now.
