'Win' Free Rice for the World's hungry

Go to http://www.freerice.comhttp://www.freerice.com and play the online word game. For every correct answer you give, 10 grains of rice are donated. The rice is paid for by adverts on the game play. The ads are un-obtrusive.

In addition to helping the poor, you also improve your vocab, so win / win really.

Check this bbc article too, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7088447.stmhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7088447.stm for more details

Think how much we could raise, if every member of HDUK got 10 correct answers, and think how high-brow the forum posts would be! :-D

So, does this mean that if the little kids in Africa get that One Laptop Per Child thing, they can sit googling the answers all day long and never go hungry again?

I know what you're saying, but you can click as many times as you've got the patience for on this site, so you can build up a value of rice equivalent to the best click rates. And then do it again the next day and so on.

According to the bbc article, the amount of rice required to feed a person for a day is 20,000 grains.

Looking at the posted totals so far, the forum fed someone yesterday...

Don't stop,

All you have to do is click a button each day - I have been doing it for years (as well as others for animals/children/health etc)

260 this time. I'd have done more, but my steak and chips takes priority over these unemployed layabouts.
