My wife is stuck in Kent, Dartford Crossing shut, Black Cat roundabout shut, not good for motorists!

Oh. :( The old 'I'm stuck in Kent, the Dartford Crossing is shut, along with the Black Cat roundabout.' line.

I finally get why they name hurricanes after women...

Because when they've gone, they leave you with nothing after taking your possessions, money, car and the house.

its only a storm and the last one was called conor, I think before that was Angus and Barbara.

Had the same problem with my newish neighbours too this morning. Isn't it, boundary to the left of your property is your neighbour's and boundary to the right of your property is yours. I could be wrong but I've been told this before.

Yep, they alternate between male and female names as they go up the alphabet.

You are not obliged to fix your fence either but if you have dogs you must prevent them from entering the neighbours garden.. Usually the owners side of the fence has the ugliest side, ie the wooden struts but thats not a given.

That would make sense as my property is end of terris and I have an 8ft wall all around the right hand side of my house and garden that bloors homes built. the left hand side splits the gardens with a panel fence. Well it did until Doris came along huffing and puffing. With the last neighbors we went half each if anything went wrong very good neighbourly relationship. These newish ones are a nightmare partying and banging all night getting arrested and other unruly things. Hopefully we can agree on something now it needs fixing again.

We've just had a conservatory built right up against an old fence, we had mentioned to the surveyor/planner that we had planned on replacing it prior to the conservatory going up but as post 7 states, we were told that the side with the ground posts (ugly side) is the owner of the fence and its their responsibility.

Half the fence blew down two nights ago and the other half wont last the day.

When it's 'my' fence I've always made sure that I've given myself the decent side...if it's mine I'm having the best bit of it:p

No dogs my side but next door got a few of them, we got rabbits instead and they are let out most days but they not coming out now until Iv sorted the fence can't risk it. The kids would be gutted if anything happened to them.

Thus far we have 4 snapped posts and 1 piece featherboard gone completely AWOL, neighbour to the right has lost a post and a panel and the next to the right has lost at least 3 panels. To the left of us our neighbours have lost 3 posts and panels and those to the left of them have lost a post and a panel. It's certainly going to be a bit of a boost for the local builder merchants and fence installers. Touch wood, thankfully there doesn't appear to be anyone having suffered any structural damage but I guess until it rains time will only tell.

I agree, it never made sense the other way round.Fortunately though modern fences are quite neutral.

I'll be completely honest as Iv done fencing over the years the subject crops up a lot I'm not even sure a set side exists. some say they own the right some say they own the left and the part about the good side always comes up. lots of people who have the work done expect the good side looking in on them I paid for it so I'm having the good side.

So people can climb easily into your property by using the bad side rails, seems like a good idea!

Its always best to sort it out asap but if you couldnt afford it then its the neighbours responsibility to keep their dogs out your garden.

Actually i was walking up the stairs and it just sitting there, he walked up behind me and carried on to the next floor while i was standing there pondering which one it was from and looking up, when i got up the top he was unlocking his door.

I shall explain, some of the flats here have strange conservatory like things ontop glass windows in a square with a roof section like a garage roof, i assume they have halls or maybe bathrooms with no outer walls so have that strange skylight thing.

I will anyway as Iv done it as a job in the past for many years, I might see if they will go halfs on the panels as I would get them cheaply enough anyway from the timber yard.

I took my pickup truck to work as I didn't fancy battling the wind in my wife's Smart car, out on the open fens driving with a hefty side wind when the bed liner was whipped straight out of the pickup bed and thrown into a water filled ditch.
