well if it wasnt for the postie strike then i would be able to tell you i ordered it from software4students who have said they have dispatched it but said they will only send out another one after 20 days the rc version was very good
#2
Microsoft have a cheek making all of their beta testers (vista users) pay for this.

I got my copy from Tesco the day it was released. I can't fault it. It is Vista that actually works!
#4
I think it was cheaper with Tesco's preorder at £45! Is £90 now! I'm sure if you use google you'll find plenty of opinions :)http://lmgtfy.com/?q=windows+7+review

Been using it since beta stage was released and been impressed from day one, everything runs with it, not needed to install any drivers at all on my desktop pc, or the vostro laptop, just replaced the laptop with a Samsung N130 netbook and the first thing I did was replace the XP with windows 7 before I used it, it literally took 15 minutes to install ultimate on the netbook from USB drive and within 30 minutes of the netbook being delivered I was using it with windows 7, had to install the drivers for the wireless on it though as it didn't pick up, the rest of the time was loading firefox/roboform/office/security etc. which loaded faster from usb than optical media.

i did a custom install and everything went fine but when i do the upgrade part i get a error saying that the file might be corrupt or some parts might be missing

the porter
7 ultimate here i like it but i liked vista so not much different really

+1

I never had any real headaches with Vista and don't really understand why folk hated it so much, Imo it was better than XP by far.

Windows 7 is certainly an improvement on Vista and any glitches Vista had seem to of been fixed.

Certainly a lot different from XP, But not much difference from Vista.

Im Activating It From Control Panel Now

My NC10 is running MUCH better than when I had XP:thumbsup:
#14
just activated my windows 7
#15
it rocks - more stable, more productive features, (subjectively) faster too ;-)
#16
what happens if you do a custom install but then you don't do the upgrade?
#17
no problems at all.
recognised everything i've plugged in so far, never once frozen or crashed
#18
Never had a problem with Vista once i streamlined it instead of 'out of the box'. Always runs smooth as anything, bug free, no crashes, and no hardware problems.

Cant see myself upgrading... if it aint broke dont fix it.

I feel the same really.
I did install the 7 RC and liked it but didnt feel it was really too different from vista, especially to justify paying for it!

love the new aero features. Its a lot faster than my vista os and the new little features are just so cool and defo aid productivity.

aero features:-

http://windows7news.com/2009/09/13/how-to-enable-and-use-windows-7-aero-features/

sold vista business os for £50 and win7 premium only cost £42 so a no-brainer really :)

Bums, I thought I heard somewhere that under EU law they had to let us, as you have bought the software to use, and if you have 2 PCs in the house as long as they are not both on togehter you are fine.

Hum ho ;o)
