beta was due to be realeased today
#2
if you do install...let me know your thoughts on it
#3
yep, got it yesterday (MSDN).... seems ok so far, better than Vista. I still prefer XP though
#4
can you roll back to xp easily from windows 7?, if i do decide to install
#5
I doubt you can "rollback", but you can do a separate install on the drive, so it doesnt wipe the XP installation.
banned#6
downloaded it on Wednesday not installed yet will install over the weekened

I've downloaded it and put it to work. It's very good. Certainly a lot snappier than Vista and Vista is faster than XP these days anyway at games, so it looks like a winner. If it was 64bit, I'd take it on as my main OS. Definitely worth a play if you've got a spare partition or drive, although don't think of it as a long-term solution, since the beta's probably time-limited. I've had a couple of bugs with it, too.

Oooh christ, you're right. MS File Transfer Manager is being painfully slow with it (20KB/s, wtf? There's normally two extra zeroes on that...), but it'll be done by tomorrow, and that's the main thing. I'll run some benchmarks to compare.

Anything anyone wants a Vista x64 vs Win7 Beta x64 comparison on?
#17
Im currently downloading the 64bit version at 600KB/sec
Will download the 32bit version again later.
#18
what does it look like?
#19
Paused it and resumed, and it went up to 1.6MB/sec
Unfortunately, I have to pause everything as im almost at my 3gig limit.
#20

NVM, i found the link myself, sorry for not getting my facts straight although i did mention this download has been available just the server is down, this seems to bypass the registration so you will still need a activation key?
