Windows 7 - GOD MODE !

Just discovered this and thought i'd share it with everyone :-)

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it...

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

This will then give you a fully comprehensive list of ALL the control panel functionalities of Windows 7 at your finger tips

Have fun!

Vista 64X users be wary of doing this.
Research some more.

you can name that folder anything and it would still work.....
#2
This works on Vista also, and the word "GodMode" can be replaced with anything.
#3
Just tried and yes you can :)

Sorry if this was common knowledge, just thought some people would find it useful :whistling:
#4
Does it work in any other versions?

Does not work in xp.

Anyone know why even though it creates as "whatever you called it" and you get a nice icon.(clean only the name you called it) That for no reason the {ED7BA4 ########ETC} string value then becomes present in the name either straight away or after a random time.

5 installs , w7 home premium 2 and ultimate 3. Just curious if it's also happening to anyone else. It happens also with the other string values for other So called secret menu's

No mine is clean on the desktop, and even when renaming does not show the string. Only place I get the string is when I right click the properties it is down under type

Not sure how long to wait to see - Random time? hours, days, weeks?

Can be a day an hour (minutes even) I do a lot of messing on with operating systems though . Maybe its when another instance of one of these folders are created like the network one or maybe ccleaner registry related (may even be a quirk of installing from flash pen or Vlite bug) not sure yet it's on 3 different bits of hardware eg 3 laptops.

might be co's I always have desktop icons showing.

Also this may be replaced but my malware bytes icon always goes missing eg the mbam logo is replaced by the empty data icon eg the old square file type .dat (this did it on rom install of windows 7 though) so I thought maybe mbam bug .

Has anyone noticed that .. you will have to pin them to taskbar and then delete desktop shortcut though

cant someone put exactly what you should rename the folder

cant someone put exactly what you should rename the folder

They have.

Right click , create new folder, rename folder to (the dot is important at the end of your name without it, it won't work) fragaliciousbob.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

If you also navigate to the devices location on your windows 7 machine(devices and printers) and your pc icon appears there, you can create a shortcut on your desktop from that icon and then right click on that shortcut for many options related to your pc.

No.
One folder and a list of every? option you can set in Windows 7, divided into easily understood categories. No having to drill down and come up because you went into the wrong folder.

In Vista you change the control panel back to classic mode as in XP, but in Windows 7 they've taken this option away so you HAVE to navigate through stupid menus trying to find the feature you want. So this is very useful if it does what I think it does, as I'm on my laptop at the minute will give rep if it works upstairs.

Vista :lol What do you think they were talking about above. My mistake though I should have quoted. Thought logic would have meant I did not need to.

So dunno why everyone elses 64bit explorer process(in VISTA) is not crashing, restarting in loop.

You's all on 64bit vista must have had it installed by my mate with his super copy. Everything he touches is fantastic and always works better than everyone else's and never ever breaks. He is so wonderful with girls they drop their kit at the mere hint of his name. Pity he never learned to swim though.

Am i missing something here they all say works in 64 bit w7 mode yeah I know that but It's vista 64 bit it crashes not windows 7 : I already know it does not crash windows 7 / 32 or 64bit .It just crashes explorer on the vista 64bit systems it was tested on.

As you say though there have been some updates since then but google seems to be slow to catch up to this/these updates that allow it to now work on 64bit VISTA .So therefore as I see / call it, I will not be trying it again on any vista64bit system or advising anyone else to.

This also works for Windows Vista, 32-bit & 64-bit.
But it has been known to crash the 64-bit version of Windows Vista
.

God Mode has no problems on Windows 7 64-bit
