i have installed windows 7 onto my acer laptop over pre-installed vista.

the laptop will no longer detect anything plugged into the usb ports or sd card slot.

what can i do?

will a system restore put vista back, then try windows 7 install again?

or is there a simple way to switch back to vista ?

no easy way unless you burned the backup discs off.

You could do the install again,When you installed did you have the ethernet cable connected as this way windows will find its own drivers during the install,

[FONT=Verdana]Go to the Technical Support area on the Acer website and see if you can find the Windows 7 device drivers for your model of laptop (you might want to add it into your support thread) & then install them, ensuring that the chipset support is done as well - hopefully that will get it back.

do they show as installed when looking at device manager?

seemed to have solved everything

EXCEPT

when left for a time the screen goes blank (black) although the computer is still on

won't wake up.... have to depress the power button and force a shut down, then when powered up again it gives me the option to start in safe mode.
