Going to buy this when it comes out and was just wondering how this whole thing works. At the moment I have Vista Basic but if I install this will I lose all my folders etc?
As you can tell I am not great with computers so any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Ross

In windows 7, the one you buy, if it says 'E' anywere in the title on the box.
Can only be a CLEAN install.

You are better off backing up what you need to keep first and doing a clean install anyway imo.

You could always try the Windows 7 RC for free before buying it.

Basically yes.

With Vista, if you bought an upgrade version, and you were moving from say XP Home to Vista Home Basic or Home Premium, then you could do an upgrade in place and it would save all your files, settings etc.

With Windows 7 there is NO upgrade version (not in Europe anyway).

So you would need to back up / save your personal files, browser favorites, email settings and so on to a memory stick or CD/DVD.

Then you do a CLEAN windows 7 install, which wipes ALL your old files off the hard disk, before Windows 7 is installed.
