Trying to chat to my sister and kids who are abroad. Installed Windows 7 a couple of days ago on this laptop (Sony Vaio) and webcam not detected (motion eye) and no sound from my end on Windows Live. I can see and hear her and kids.

All was working fine before with Vista and before the upgrade.

How do I sort this?

Um try this..
1. Run MSN Messenger
2. Run Webcam Settings (it should crash)
3. go to Manage/Computer Management/Device Manager
4. Disable/enable your camera (under imaging device)
5. run MSN Messenger,it works great.

tools/audio and video set up/next/select 'disable' in drop down menu.

If this doesn't work:

Try a video call. When it doesn't work just unplug and re-insert any usb device like a usb mouse, or a memory stick. It might just come back. This works when people have trouble with Dell Video Chat.

Failing that, try installing manycam

This cured my non-working cam on another online cam site.

:whistling:

No, a certain site wouldn't detect/show my cam but after research installing manycam just made it work.
