Right click on my computer, then properties. At bottom it will say if it's activated.

http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/ Left hand side, you can click windows genuine for it to check.

May need a reboot after either.

If nothing then download and install vista sp2 if it's not already on. Reboot and try again, should work

No problem, going back to work in a few mins, but will check about 10ish, if you need any help.

Sp2 should take off some of them updates and may get it going again.

Is this occuring when trying to install SP2? I had great difficulties doing this for a relative, but finally found a fix.

If you still haven't sorted it, I'll find the fix and post it for you. (Doesn't look like I've saved it though... Grr..)

From what I remember though, the issue arose because of some strange corruption in the actual download of the update not allowing the installation to continue (or complete). To fix it I had to delete the folder that contained the download (Sadly I don't remember what it was and thoroughly wish I'd saved the site I found this info from). It then re-downloaded the update and installed fine.
