the process is called "System"

You really need to try Adaware or Spybot search and destroy ,Preferably both,When you donload them make sure you update them before running,

Are you sure it is an image and not just the System? I have a similar percent figure as you are stating.

my cpu is running at a constant 50-60% as well, so i assumed this is what was causing it

I'm running at 65k too, I wouldn't worry about it friend :)

It will be something else. Look down the list and see what else has a high number. You can stop the program but don't stop anything that has System next to it. If this reduces your CPU usage, then you have found the culprit. You might have to do this several times to find which one it is. Make sure that it isn't just some scheduled checks running in the background. My PC slows down when AVG or another program is running checks.

reet ill chill out, just read reports about it on the internetz when i was trying to figure out what was wrong. cpu seems to be running normal now though, so it seems i miss diagnosed the problem but fixed it anyway.

thanks for your reassurances and sorry for being clueless

Bet it was a scan or check running. Don't believe everything you read on Google:) Some bad people out there ready to destroy your PC.
