reboot the computer and just before the windows splash screen appears press 'F8' on your keyboard.
Choose 'Safe Mode' from the options that follow.
When it asks you for username type 'Administrator' leave the password blank assuming you haven't set one up.
Once windows has loaded in safe mode:
- Click 'Start' and then click 'Run'.
- Type 'control userpasswords2', and then click 'OK'.
- Click the name of the user account that you want to reset the password for.
- Click 'Change the Password', and then type a new password.

It will remove it and give you the opportunity to set another one.

.

If the admin password HAS been set then this wont work. Boot CD is the only 100% guranteed way to remove a password from a user account.

I would suggest you to try my method first and then use a cracker if it fails.

@maggie444 True, but usually most home users don't bother setting up an admin password.

Your method assumes that the admin password is blank, which is what the cracker does anyway.

weren't there some versions which wouldn't allow blank passwords from hdd boot?
