I've got a Focus ST, so would they use a 'Ford Focus ST' windscreen!?

Thanks

ive got 6 tiny chips (2mm dia max), kinda annoying as most are through driver vision. I was hoping to get all repaired but they only fix 3 max on any one windscreen.
I have it booked for friday (to be done at my work) would you be obligated to have the windscreen fitted thats what they've booked you for!?
I think its £10 excess for repair & £60 replacement through insurance.

My first screen replacement from autoglass for a Mondeo ST was NOT identical. The heated elements were further apart - not as good for clearing. Also the black dots were of lower quality and not the same shape around the mirror etc. I'm also not sure but the tint looked a little different from other ST's!

I took mine back to Ford the second time and got an identical replacement. Have to say though Autoglass did a neater job of fitting!

Suggest you take a photo if you are that worried.

im stuck with autoglass or autowindscreens for the minimum excess. If I chose Ford then I have to cover costs over £125, and for a heated windscreen Im guessing its more!
Do you know if theres any way round that on the insurance or did you pay fully?
Can I tell autoglass I ONLY want EXACTLY the same or not!?

I think I maybe heading towards a repair only!

my windscreen was damaged before buying the car and before my insurance. Is there a way still to claim it through my current insurance provider. They cover it. Or I am being unscruplus and should bear this cost myself

damage to my windscreen was done after I bought it and after my insurance start date therefore my claim would be genuine.
Im pretty sure what your suggesting is not valid, so its at your discretion and risk to go down the insurance route!

hmmm ive been wondering this,a bird chit on my windscreen when i was driving down the m3,i washed and then wiped the windscreen with the wipers to see that the bird poop had in fact made a huge chip, that bird must of eaten some sort of rock hard pip!
I had the chip "repaired" but within a few weeks it was visibly noticeable again so i may well end up replacing the windscreen itself if the chip starts to spread

I had a similar issue to yours, my arguement with the insurance company was that I had 3 years warranty with Ford and the warranty specifically stated all repairs should be undertaken by Ford or it invalidates it. I had to argue for ages - I think I spoke to three people and in the end they agreed, but I had to specify the Ford dealership and get them to contact the insurance company to confirm I was telling the truth! It was a lot of hassel at the time. I paid the excess in the end which was £100 - still quite a lot.

By the way if you move insurers it's worth mentioning you had a claim on the screen, I failed to do this and they threatened to not pay out for another claim simply because I forgot to tell them!!

Last tip - wash the car before they fit it - autoglass use quite a lot of force to remove the old one and they have to "lever" the old one out and they tend to use the bodywork to lean on!! perhaps I had a newbie on the job!

By the way do you like your ST ? Fancy one myself but needed a little more space in the boot so still keeping the Mondeo at the mo.
