Windy!!!

Sitting here in my conservatory working I have seen several fence panels blown out, and most worryingly the 14 foot trampoline lifted 6 foot in the air and landing across the garden (luckily without hitting anything in its path).

Any damage where you are?

Not yet - but my 1m sat dish in the garden is taking a hammering.........

Hope nothing happens, I want to watch Liverpool v Chelsea on it at the weekend.....
#2
i live in a tower block, so the wind is very windy up here!
#3
I live on a hill, it's v.windy up there :) It's bad enough down at work, the main door is really heavy but it keeps blowing open *beep beep* *beep beep* god it's annoying.

I let my rabbit out of its run at 5am - lucky I did, as by 6am the run was blown down the garden! It must have been a big gust of wind - although the run itself is fairly lightweight (galvanised steel mesh), the waterproof cover that goes over part of the run needs 3 people to lift it.

Just busy watching the 10 storey high crane next to my office sway 'gently' in the wind.....

Only cos we have a 9 storey high glass atrium between us and the crane - and I don't want to hang around if the crane starts coming my way!!!

Our 10 ft trampoline has been blown over and trashed :x The kids are going to be gutted.

A tree has blown over on the main road.

My neighbours roof has just about blown off.

Bins everywhere, it's like living in a war zone - I daren't go out. Suppose thats what you get for living on a hill in the countryside.

Our local Woolworths has just lost it's roof

Will they be having a "storm damaged sale"??? May be some bargains there!!
#17
Take a picture for us! Who can show us the best wind damage?
#18
Not seen any damage yet, but loads of sirens! Did have some excitement at the weekend when a 40ft tree at the end of my drive fell down. luckily in the only direction that would avoid cars, the main road and the house. Shame about our phone and electricity lines on the telegraph pole it hit :-( . Only took out my house too!!!

Thanks for the pic grdesign....lucky the bike didn't fall into the speedwagon...which is not up to your usual standard of cleanliness!!! LOL...just the weather to give it a good polish!!!

we have lost the fence panels to the substation, bypass is flooded, part of M60 and M62 is closed!! trees going down all over the place and my dads firm has sent everyone home cos a wall collapsed and smashed a car up.

my work is letting everyone go home at 4.30 rather than 5.30-6.00 jjust so we can "try" and get home.

i rekon its going to be about 2 hours to travel 8.2 miles for me tonight.

and a women got killed in marple, stockport got crushed to death by a collapsing wall!

hope i make it home!!!

The building I work in is actually swaying. Not a lot but you can feel it and its is making some people feel sick. Having the odd look out of the window and people are nearly being blown away - Leeds city centre

I live in Warrington, I went trafford centre at about 1pm. On the way there we got hit by a recycling bin, watched cans blow all across the road. Drove past an overturned HGV, so barton bridge got closed (big bridge near trafford centre) At the centre they had to close orients enterance as their statues are only tested in 55mph winds, so wind was too strong to guarntee it was safe as statues were wobbling. On radio there was reports of a woman in Deansgate Manchester being killed whensomething flew off the court house and hit her. In anotyher nearby aera a police office watched part of a metal roof be ripped off 10ft steel girder in toe, which went onto hit at least 4 terraced houses before landing on 2 cars, (the houses were on diff sides of street!). On way home all roads were closed, I had to ring in work to say I couldn't get in due to traffic. In over 2hrs car travelled under 1 mile (and i was 12 mile from home!) Trees down all over place. My grandma has lost her fence and garage roorf, I've lost my gazebo. One of my next door neighbours roof tiles fell of and landed where our car would have been if we weren't stuck 12miles away that is, so luckily saved money there. My uncle is stuck in Munich and just before my brother got to tesco for lunch a member of their staff almost got hit by a flying concrete bollard so they had to close down shop.

So without talking to other friends and seeing how there day was, I can pretty much insure that round here the weather has deffinatley wreaked havoc lol.

So has everyone had fun?
#34
its nuts out there... my poor little micra was almost forced onto the hardshoulder of the A1 several times

Are they trying to point the blame at people reading message boards now for train delays?
